SOURCE: disabling the mute in the music player

sometimes a gadget just gets confused and restoring factory settings can fix that problem. Go to menu-tools-settings-general-factory settings the phone asks Restor original settings phone will restart press yes it asks for security code. The default code for nokia is 12345. If this doesnt work enter this code *#7370# and the phone will reset. You then set it up as new

SOURCE: Low volume on creature speakers

Your speaker volume must have reset. You have to touch the dots on the right speaker to turn up the volume to desired volume. I just remembered that on my system. Hope this helps.

Very weak sound from ibm t42 thinkpad - internal and exteranl speakers

There are two ways to set the sound on an IBM thinkpad, hardware and software.
Hardware sound can be set via the speaker buttons below the screen. There should be three buttons: Mute, Volume Down, and Volume Up.
Software sound can be set in windows through the speaker icon on the bottom right of the screen. Click on the icon, and drag the slider up or down to change the volume.
If you don't have the correct drivers installed, these two settings are separate (e.g. It is possible to have the hardware volume down low, and the software volume set really high, and still have music playing relatively quietly). I would suggest turning both of them up and see if the sound gets louder.

My Sony Vaio VGN-FS690P has stopped playing sound. The sound card states it is working correctly. It does play one sounds, the sound when it starts and show the VAIO screen.

Hopefully this helps. Right click on your volume control icon. Open the "Volume Mixer," and make sure that nothing has the mute X on. Then right click on "Volume Control," and make sure that the volume control is checked to play all sounds, and that your Speaker box is checked. Next step is your music, if the sound was muted directly @ the music playback, this could be the problem. Open your Media Player and try to play music, if you cannot hear it, click on the mute button to the song playing. If your Player was shut off in the "mute" mode, then you will not hear sound. It Happened to me once. You will need to check all of your "Players" to see if any of them were shut off in "mute."

My Pioneer Receiver (SX-255R) won't play anything. I only have a CD player connected to it. The screen only says "Muting." I've tried unplugging it for 30 minutes and re-connecting. Still says...

Just to be sure we are talking the same unit I have included the link to the user manual for SX-255R
http://www.pioneernz.co.nz/Site/Pronto/Files/user_manuals/SX255R%20USER%20MANUAL.PDF

Suggestions
1. have you tried to press the Muting button on the remote unit.
(item 11 remote unit diagram)? does it make any diffrence - what if the button is stuck?

2. Have you tried to play the Tuner radio - what happens then? do you still get Muting.

3. You mentioned something about speaker wire coming out.
I understand that Pioneer receivers shut off if any of the speakers is faulty, ie, correct impedance is not showing at the speaker input point.
Usually the newer units give an "overload" message. It is possible this could be happening and the SX-255R gives the "muting" message instead. Some people have reported very minute shorts where strands of the speaker wire touch the body and it causes "overload".

One way to check is to remove speakers wires one by one and see if the "muting" goes away. Then you can check the offending speaker if that is what is happening.

Good luck

Sony Receiver STR-DE305

It's very likely it is a fuse - does it work with any other speakers or headphones? Is there any reset on the back of the receiver? If not, unplug it, remove the cover and check the fuse(s).

Need help now

check all your wires and connections make sure that none have crossed or are short circuiting. What you are seeing is the circuit overload protection and generally is from 2 causes. 1 being what i stated that your wires are crossed or touching on one set of speakers creating a short. 2 is the power supply in either its not grounded or that its blown and overload protection is overriding. Check all the connections and let me know so i can further assist you.

Panasonic SC-HT920

One option is to set the cross over to the sub so it knows when to send the low frequency to the sub and not the front speakers. 120 is a good setting. This can be done either via a know on the sub woofer or the setup screen of the main unit.

good luck
