Trying to fix Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WTW555OXWO, what next?

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WTW555OXWO, codes, F1E2 & F5E2 Motor Control Fault & Lid Switch Fault. Started investigations of the Control Board when husband mindlessly put a circuit checker on something, while the washer was plugged in, and made a huge spark/smoke. Saw that a capacitor was blown, changed that, didn't work, saw that the micro control chip was also blown. Ordered a used/but working control panel. Had a broken plastic pressure sensor piece, I exchanged those out. Control Panel did not work in washer, green LED light on though, used multimeter to check Power Supply, checked User Interface, put a different one in and the power button will not work but the knob will turn it on but it does not match up with the lights and the lid lock light flashes and the washer will not work or turn off with the power button.

SOURCE: Whirlpool cabrio washer doesn't start, Can I fix this by myself?

If you replaced the lid lock then you know how to get the top of the cabinet up lift the top up there should be a technical sheet in a plastic packet on the front panel it will tell you how to run a diagnostic if not there turn machine off press and hold any button except power/cancel for 3 seconds release 3 seconds repeat until 88 appears after that any fault codes should appear I have only had to replace a control twice on these units I am curious to see if you get an F50 or F51 code this is the most common when this machine first starts the lid should lock a short rotation of the basket lid unlocks then locks a short fill then rotation of the basket let me know what you find could be the control but I would like to eliminate the rotor and RPS sensor

I have a whirlpool cabrio and the lid will not lock the light keeps flashing and it keeps making the lock clicking sound

BEFORE ASSUMING THE LID SWITCH NEEDS REPLACEMENT TEST WITH A METER, BUT FIRST TRY TO RESET CONTROL BOARD EVEN RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WILL REVEAL THE SOURCE OF THE ERROR.. 1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off; or with only the Clothes Clean or Done indicator on). 2. Select any one button (except POWER, START, STOP, and PAUSE/CANCEL) and follow the steps below, using the same button: a. Press/hold 3 seconds. b. Release for 3 seconds. c. Press/hold 3 seconds. d. Release for 3 seconds. e. Press/hold 3 seconds. ? If this test mode has been entered successfully, all indicators on the console are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the Estimated Time Remaining two-digit display. ? If indicators do not display as described above, the press/hold/release procedure above may not have been performed within the time frame necessary for successful entry. Repeat step 2 to ensure this was not the cause. If still unsuccessful, see Diagnostic: Unsuccessful Entry, at right. 3. The test sequence continues by checking for saved fault codes: ? If there are saved fault codes, see Diagnostic: Saved Fault Codes, page 2. ? If there are no saved fault codes, all indicators on the console will momentarily turn off, then turn back on with 88 displayed. After 5 seconds, the Automatic test, below, begins.

TEST #8 Lid Lock Perform the following checks if washer fails to lock (or unlock). 1. Perform Manual: Lid Switch and Manual: Lid Lock tests on page 2. 2. Remove the console to access the machine/motor control assembly. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies, at right. 3. Visually check that the P12 connector is inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. ? If visual check passes, go to step 4. ? If visual check fails, reconnect P4 and repeat step 1. 4. Check the lid lock motor winding and switches by removing P12 from the machine/motor control and checking the resistance values shown in the following Lid Lock Resistance table:
TO RESET TURN KNOB 1 FULL TURN COUNTERCLOCKWISE, THEN 3 TURNS OR CLICKS CLOCKWISE, 1 TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE, 1 MORE TURN CLOCKWISE, THEN HIT START , ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS SHOULD THEN LIGHT UP, THEN UNPLUG FROM THE WALL FOR 5 MINUTES THEN PLUG BACK IN , IT SHOULD BE RESET AFTER PLUGGING BACK IN

My Whirlpool Cabrio washer wtw555oxwo turns on, lid locks, then the lid lock light starts flashing and the machine does nothing. Just replaced the lid lock, but nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

adjust the lid lock switch?? seems to me that lid lock mech is not moving far enough to properly be sensed by switch

if machine is over 8 months old id suspect rust in lock arm as cause

Having trouble with my whirlpool cabrio . . . showing "DU" . . .

The F30 error code (dU) will flash when the dispenser motor cannot be driven to its proper position.

Door Unlock Error

A Door Unlock Error occurs if the door cannot be unlocked.
It will try to unlock the door 6 times before displaying the error.

Door Lock Mechanism broken.
Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly for foreign objects
Check Wire Harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

If it is a cabrio:
dU flashes if the following conditions occur:
Excessive force on door lid is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Wash media buildup is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Machine/motor control cannot determine if door lid is in an unlocked state.

TEST #8 Door Lid Lock
Perform the following checks if washer fails to lock (or unlock).
1. Perform Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock tests.
2. Remove the console to access the machine/ motor control assembly. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies.
3. Visually check that the P12 connector is inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. If visual check passes, go to step 4. If visual check fails, reconnect P4 and repeat step 1.
4. Check the lid lock motor winding and switches by removing P12 from the machine/ motor control and checking the
resistance values....

Component/Resistance Unlocked/Resistance Locked/Contacts Measured/Contacts Measured:

Motor Winding/35 ±5 O/35 ±5 O/P12-2/P12-3/
Lock Switch - Home/0 O/Open Circuit/P12-1/P12-4
Lock Switch - Lock/Open Circuit/0 O/P12-1/P12-7
Lock Switch - Lid/Lid Closed = 0 OLid Open = Open Circuit/Lid Closed = 0 O Lid Open = Open Circuit/P12-1/P12-5

If resistance values are good, go to step 5. If switch measurements do not match the values shown in the table for unlocked (or locked) conditions, a problem
exists in the door lid lock. Replace the door lid lock.

5. If the Manual: Door Switch or Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 failed, then the machine/motor control has failed: Unplug washer or disconnect power.
Replace machine/motor control assembly. Perform the Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 to verify repair.

Yes you are right, this error should be fixed by whirlpool as its a common issue with whirlpool Cabrio washers, you can call 1-800-253-1301 whirlpool will send a tech. to fix it and pay for the part. Fault code F1 is flashing on my cabrio washer

I have just gotten off the phone with Whirlpool for an F1 error on my cabrio washer. They are arranging for someone to come and fix my machine at their cost. It appears to be a common problem. Call Whirlpool and set it up. Good Luck.
