Use a third blade, preferable mounted to your utility handle, to part them. Handle only from the back side and give the utility knife a slight twist as soon as it is between the points of the new blades.

SOURCE: WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE STANLEY SWIVEL LOCK UTILITY

If you use the wrong brand of blades, they won't let the knife shut all the way. The notch is cut slightly differently. The same is true for the Kobalt knife I just bought at Lowes. Get the Stanley blades that are right next to the knives - they are the only ones that work.

Sorry.

If you bought the Stanley blades, then I don't know what the problem is. Sorry for that too.

SOURCE: How do you load a new blade?

At the back end of the knive (the curved end) press the black piece through the yellow rounded part and the yellow front and the black back will part, now slide the yellow part back to reviel the blade folder. Fit new blade then refit the yellow part on top of the black part and slide the yellow part foward to lock it back in.

I disassembled the Stanley 10 - 788 utility knife completely how do I put it back together

This utility knife reassemblies similar to the original. The only difference is this model uses two screws and that plastic insert. You will align the two metal halves and bring them together. Use care that the blade does not fall out of its holder and the little black plastic piece stays in place, near the blade. This may take a few tries. after you bring the two halves together you will carefully separate the bottom end (farthest from blade). Separate it just enough to slide the plastic insert into position. Once the three pieces align you will know. With little effort the two metal halves will close together. Install the two set screws and test for proper function. I'm including a Youtube video that shows how to properly change the blade and what it will look like after it is reassembled.

How do I install the standard mini inline cord switch. I am a novice.

The cord has two wires.
Use exacto knife or utility knife with sharp blade, slice the wire down the middle for about 2 inches.
Be careful and don't cut into the copper wire.
Now the two wires are separated, like each lane of a road going around a tree.
Cut one wire completely through. Leave the other wire continuous and uncut.
Which of the two wires do you cut?
Go back to the plug and notice that plug has two prongs. One prong is narrower. This prong carries voltage to the lamp, so technically and officially that is the wire to cut.
However you can unofficially cut either wire and it will work fine.
Open mini switch and there are two halves and one screw that tightens two halves together.

Notice inside the mini switch, there are two sharp brass points.
These brass points will penetrate through the wire insulation and into the copper when you reassemble the mini-switch.
So place your continuous wire in the open mini-switch. and place your two cut wires in place where the brass points will push down, you may have to trim one of the cut wires a bit shorter.
Then put the two mini-switch halves together and squeeze them together between fingers, and then tighten the screw.
That should do it.

Existing vessel sink is stuck to polished granite vanity top. We want to replace the sink with a different one but can't get the sink to release--we originally used silicone adhesive and have tried wedging...

Silicone is an excellent adhesive once it is fully cured. I would not try to pry it off but I would suggest that you take the blade out of drywall or utility knife and carefully try to cut through it. It probably will take several cuts to get the old basin free but thats the only way I can think of to do it without damage to counter top. Hope that helps. Thanks
