SOURCE: Water freezing on the tray section under the freezer drawer.

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over

SOURCE: Ice maker overflows with water

yes, in fact the icemaker does meter the amount of water delivered to the icemaker, the valve should only be energized for 7 seconds. after that the power is cut off, so if valve continues to let water flow, it's bad (might have debris from water line keeping it open. unserviceable. )

SOURCE: 2000 Amana BX21Vl fridge: ice maker and freezer not working.

5 reasons for fridge and/or freezer getting warm: 1- the evaporator coils are icing up and won?t let air circulate. 2- the evaporator fan is not working to circulate air. 3- there is no refrigerant in the system. 4- no power to fridge or compressor. 5- the condenser coils have no air circulation check under the fridge behind the vent. if it is too dusty or the fan isn?t working, it is not getting enough airflow to cool down. replace fan and/or vacuum out the dust. if there is no power to the fridge, the light will be off. if the compressor is not running, there is a defrost timer that cuts the power temporarily to the compressor to melt ice on the coils. it?s located under the fridge behind the bottom vent. If the timer is off and the compressor is not going, the compressor or the main board is bad and needs replacing. there is also a temperature sensor on the evaporator coils that tells the defrost coil to turn on and when to turn off. if the defrost timer is on but the coil is not heating up, replace the sensor. if it still won?t heat up, it?s the timer or the coil. the easiest way to tell if there is no refrigerant- the freezer wall is warm and the compressor is loud. if there is no refrigerant, it may be more cost effective to replace the fridge. if you feel no air coming from the freezer vent, the fan needs replacing. If you feel air moving in the freezer but not the fridge, the channel from freezer to fridge is blocked. if the freezer has air and the rear freezer wall has frost on it, the evaporator coils are iced up and need defrosting. causes: 1. low refrigerant 2. no fan 3. too much humid air in fridge/freezer due to door open or bad door seals 4. the condensate drain tube is clogged if the seal around the door is ripped or not completely sealing, or there is condensation at the bottom or the walls of the fridge, replace the seal(s). no air, no fan. Replace if the refrigerant is low, it just needs a top off. but you need to be certified by the epa to move refrigerant, so get a professional. defrost solutions: unplug the fridge. remove the wall of the freezer that is frosted/icing up. use a hair dryer to melt the ice. do not get too close. you will see a drain under the evaporator coil. make sure it is not blocked. the water should run freely to a condensate pan under the fridge that evaporates the condensation with the hot line from the compressor. once the coil is free of ice, frost, and water, replace the panel and repair any of the problems that caused the icing up. plug the fridge in and turn it on. If it frosts up within a week, there is still an issue that not been taken care of. after the freezer freezes again, your ice maker will work again.

I'm getting the error code 1F and it keeps coming back. The water line to the icemaker is disconnected and has been. How can i keep it from coming back?

The error code 1F on an LG refrigerator indicates a problem with the ice maker fan. The most common cause of this error code is frost or ice buildup around the fan. If you have disconnected the water line to the ice maker, then the most likely cause of the error code is frost or ice buildup. To fix the error code 1F, you will need to defrost the ice maker fan. This can be done by following these steps: Unplug the refrigerator or turn off the circuit breaker that powers the refrigerator. Remove all food and drawers from the freezer compartment. Open the freezer door and allow the ice to melt. Once the ice has melted, use a hair dryer or heat gun to melt any remaining frost or ice around the ice maker fan. Wipe away any moisture with a clean cloth. Reassemble the freezer compartment and plug in the refrigerator or turn on the circuit breaker. If the error code 1F persists after defrosting the ice maker fan, then there may be a problem with the ice maker fan motor or the control board. In this case, it is best to contact a qualified technician for assistance. Here are some tips to prevent the error code 1F from coming back: Keep the freezer door closed as much as possible to minimize air circulation. Defrost the refrigerator regularly, even if the ice maker is not in use. Clean the ice maker coils regularly to prevent frost buildup. If you live in an area with hard water, consider using a water softener to reduce the amount of minerals in the water that can contribute to frost buildup. By following these tips, you can help to prevent the error code 1F from coming back and keep your refrigerator ice maker working properly.

We are in Australia and have had an Amana XRSS287BW fridge freezer with ice maker for 5 years. The freezer is icing up near the ice maker, the condensor is not icing up. It appears to ice up and the fan...

they do not repair icemakers for the simple fact it is cheaper to just buy a new unit aka icemaker in fact the icemaker when the repairman buys it costs him between 47-90 dollars at which for him to disconnect the three bolts and reinstall the icemaker the charge usually starting around 189.00 first thing to do would be to look at the tube where the water is going into the icemaker and observe if you have a leak from the tube the next step would be to inspect the icemaker for cracks in the ice making tray if this is also ok has your repairman checked the t-stat this is a small two wire round disc like object located behind the back panel this is what regulates your temptreture and turns the heater on when your freezer gets to cold another thing to check would the drain tube that goes from the bottom tray under the condensor sometimes this also gets blocked with ice.In turn when it does get blocked the ice just builds up the t-stat is located as part number 3 on this diagram from this link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Amana-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-XRSS287BW0/1268/0165000/M0610184/00014?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= lastly if your fan is not spinning at the addequate speed that it is supposed to be spinning at then the amount of cold air would not be leaving your freezer to go into your fridgerator and when the heater kicked on the water that melted off the condensor coils would build up also as ice if your repairman is saying its the icemaker visually inspect the icemaker yourself here is a link also showing how to remove your icemaker http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Amana-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-XRSS287BW0/1268/0165000/M0610184/00008?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= please message me back with your finds after you have visually inspected for yourself. i hope this opinion has helped in your appliance situation please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation and i await your reply

Ice Maker Problem

You need to check the fill tube it could be ajar. It should be going into funnel at the back, of icemaker.
If so, the valve is bad, letting the water in when its not calling for it.

Ice maker stopped working, makes tapping sound--like a woodpecker. How do I fix this?

Sounds like your ice maker has a bad heater or thermostat. While these are fixable, it is not recommended. Your best bet is to get new ice maker and replace the whole unit.

Water on the ice maker doesn't shut off - drips into the ice pan

Most models of Ice makers have an automatic timer for the amount of water that is allowed to enter the Ice Maker tray. If your timer valve is going bad you need to replace it. First I would reduce the amount of water coming from its source. There should be a tapped valve under your sink, connected to your water line. You have to turn the top of the valve clock wise to reduce the amount of water the is going to the back of your refrigerator. That is where you will find the timer valve. Reducing your water flow should help reduce the volume of water being let into your Ice Maker.

11 year old amana bottom freezer icemaker drips water when filling tray

Hello dunc444444
Welcome,
You said, Bottom freezer works fine, but upper refrigerator has no cold air

Is your freezer so full that it is packed to the top especially in the rear?
Refrigerators and freezers share the air from the compressor and travel through vents in the rear of the freezer and fridge.
Sometimes it can effect the cooling in the fridge if the freezer articles block the vents!

The water overfilling in the ice maker is an ice maker problem only.
When we install an ice maker there is a short white plastic tube that we push through the rear
hole of the fridge which supply's the water to the maker, the outside water line attaches to this.
That tube we push through the fridge must go in till it stops. And empties in to a little sistran at the rear of the ice maker. Make sure it did not sip out or backwards a little when you may have moved
rolled the fridge out to clean under it!

Also you need periodically to remove the front grill down in front of the fridge and gently run a refrigerator brush under the coils to clean out the dust that may block air flow over the coils.(the coils are metal black tubes that run back and forth along the bottom of your fridge.
The vacuum will not reach in to that tight space. That's why they make a special brush for this chore.
Let me know how you do?
