SOURCE: I need to know where to find the defrost timer on

I just replace my defrost timer & defrost thermostat. The timer is in the front bottom. Remove the kick plate at the bottom & you should see an orange knob. It takes about 10 min to replace. The thermostat is located in the freezer section. Remove the lower panel. This will expose the cooling coils and the defrost thermostat. Takes about an hour to replace.

if there is frost build up on rear wall of freezer section the unit is not going through defrost cycle which builds up frost on evaporator and restricts cold air flow to the fresh food section. one of three things are bad. defrost heater, defrost thermostat or defrost timer. if no frost on rear wall you might be low of freon.
