FUEL LINE QUESTION.CRAFTSMAN 32 cc,MODEL 358.79180 GAS TANK HAS 2 FUEL LINES(ONE HAS A GAS FILTER,THE OTHER TO RETURN GAS).
CARBURATOR HAS 2 LINE CONNECTIONS. THE GAS BULB HAS 2 LINES CONNECTIONS (ONE HAS A FUEL LINE DIRECTLY TO THE BULB,LEAVING A CONNECTION LINE BELOW IT). SO,WHERE DO I CONNECT THE FILTERED GAS LINE? WHERE DO I CONNECT THE OTHER GAS LINE COMMING FROM THE GAS TANK? THE GAS LINE FROM THE BULB,WHERE DOES IT GO? WHAT GOES INTO THAT CONNECTION BELOW THE BULB?
Hi this is the way it should go: 1 from the filter in the tank to the bottom of the carby,2 from the top of the carby to the inlet on the primer,3 from the outlet on the primer back to the tank as this is the return line nothing goes onto it.

there are three lines for fuel. 1 is from carb to tank with filter. 2 is from carb to tank just below gas cap on tank as a return line 3 is from tank to anywhere outside the tank for venting.
go to the website and see if you can download a manual
most saws have 2 lines fuel in and a return
the fuel in line is the one that goes in the tank and has a filter on it
hold you finger over the fuel line on carb and pull cord, the one that sucks is your fuel in, the one that blows air out is your return
Look for air leaks in the gas line and around the carb , a bad gas cap will not let any pressure build up. It could be that too. Check also the fuel line and filter inside the tank. replace if needed. www.ereplacementparts.com has parts for craftsman or the online Sears Stores.
2 cycle or 4 cycle? 2 cycle have two fuel lines running between carb and fuel tank. Check for crack or break in either line. You can buy a kit to replace both the pick up line and the return line. Make sure to note which line is the pick up(filter in tank attached to line) the other is the return.Good Luck
The smaller of the (2) lines will go to the in-tank fuel filter/weight. Depending on the model, the line will attach to the filter with about 2.5-3.0 inches of additional fuel line within the fuel tank.
The larger fuel line is the return line and needs to go into the fuel tank about 1/4 inch or so.
You should have both size holes at the bottom of the fuel tank to accommodate. Insure you are using the correct fuel line as a complete seal is necessary due to slight pressurization and to prevent leakage.
The inlet line will be an .080 x .140. Using side cuts, cut line at a slight angle and feed into tank. Pull through gas cap opening, cut line straight, and install filter. Pull line back into tank so filter lays on bottom. Connect to small carb fitting on side of carb. The return line is 3/32 x 3/16. Connect one end to pump return next to primer, cut other end at angle and install about 1/2" into tank.
Air fuel mixture problem,,,you need to have the filter pulled out and cleaned. Check fuel system for debris and clean, that includes all the fuel lines and possibly disassemble carb and clean and reassemble.
the fuel line with the filter in the tank should go the full length of the
tank
return line 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch in the tank
when changing the one with the filter ,replace filter with new one
Yes, you are right. The larger line goes to the primer bulb and only goes into the tank about an inch. The coupling just keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. The smaller line goes to the carb. This line must rest comfortably on the bottom of the tank with the filter attached to the end.
There is two sizes of line. I see the large one goes to the large port on the primer button and then to the fuel tank. The small one goes from the primer button to the carb. The problem is there are two hose connections on the carb. I believe one is a vent, but I am not sure what one it is. I have a 36cc 2-cycle model 358.352161
