SOURCE: Maytag top loader washer

The brakes are probably stuck or the cam that releases them is damaged

SOURCE: My Maytag PAV2300AWW Performa is noisy on spin cycle

If you are talking about a loud sqeaking noise, this is usually attributed to a worn snubber ring and/or brake assembly. You cannot lubricate the snubber to get rid of the noise. In fact, you may damage the washer if you do. A small amount of corn starch can be sprinkled under the bottom tub support where the snubber ring is to get rid of most noise related problems (this will be the bottom round plate where it meets the casing of the machine). However, if the snubber is worn too much, or if the brake assembly is worn they must be replaced. I would recommend replacing the following parts:

Brake Stator: 1057484 Price: $7.45
Brake Rotor and Lining: 1032674 Price: $16.70
Snubber: 1055142 Price: $4.35
Brake Removal Kit: 997909 Price: $99.40*

*Brake removal tool is required in order to remove the brake assembly and/or to replace the snubber. There is a 200lbs spring located under the Brake Stator that must be compressed PRIOR to removal or you could cause injury to yourself.

You can find all your parts and information at repairclinic.com. I am not affiliated with the website. I am merely recommending them because I have used their service before. Plus, they use the same repair parts as your major appliance repair companies, but at a lower cost.

The parts required to make the repairs aren't very expensive, but the tool required to do it IS. Also, if you've never worked on this type of washer before, this is not a job that I would recommended to the average do-it-yourselfer. Maytag is real good abpout providing the necessary instructions with their parts, but this is a bit involved.

Post back with comments and let me know if this helps you.

SOURCE: Does not spin

Seems you need a lube job on the centrifical mechanical switch that fully engauges the spin cycle( part of the pully to shaft assembly)

SOURCE: Grinding sound during agitation cycle on my Maytag Performa

Its probably you stator plate and rotor. But you need special tools for this repair. There a spring that is under 200 pounds of pressure and if you take the screws off that hold the plate its going to fly into you face if your dont use the special tools to depress the spring. Is it more of a clanking kinda of noise? DOes it olnly happen with heavy loads? Try this out. Fill the washer with water only. and get it into a wash cycle with water only. If there is no noise then put in like a load of towels. A heavy load. Now if you hear the noise now then its for sure you stator plate and rotor..hope this helps, but like i said you need those special tools to do this repair or injury can result from the spring part.

Sounds like it is the bearing on the water pump. Take off back plate and replace and remove 3 screws and two hoses (the one hose is a waste line so make sure you have a bucket to empty our waste water) after removing these remove belt on bottom of pump.

My maytag pav2300aww will not spin at all yet it agitates and drains well I was told to clean the agitator so I took it off yet the washer still don't spin the switch look wore out to me so I by-passe

Check the water level sensor and the lid safety interlock. Many washers will work fine with the lid open EXCEPT during the spin cycle, so this is the first logical place to look. Try bypassing the lid safety interlock switch.

My maytag washer model pav2300aww will not spin even though it agitates and drain but when it comes to the spin cycle it just kind of hums I looked at the bottom of the washer while it was in spin cycle...

Possible the revolution takes place on the top end of the pulley and belt but the centre stem of the agitator is not moving or it is slipping. It can be due to friction in the stem of the agitator due to clogging of dirt and the best option is to remove and clean the agitator.

Maytag washer pav2300aww noises in spin

I AM NOT A MECHANIC, BUT I CAN TELL BY READING YOUR PROBLEM IS THAT YOU NEED A NEW PUMP. IF IT ISN'T YOUR BELT, THEN YOU MAY NEED TO BUY A NEW PUMP. CALL AROUND AND ASK HOW MUCH THEY ARE. GOOD LUCK. HOW OLD IS YOUR WASHER?

Does not spin

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Good luck. Plug off the wall first.
