SOURCE: Wiring diagram for a Goldstar A/C R6004

If you remove the cover it should be on a sticker in the control area. If it's unreadable you will need to contact the Goldstar.

SOURCE: need wiring diagram

You can usually obtain a wiring diagram 'online' just by typing in the brand of AC you have and going to a site that has Dometic AC's. Of course you will need the Model # after you get there - but I don't see you having much problem chasing down a wiring diagram after some investigation on the web.

As to wiring the motor separate. Sure, you can run a separate electrical line (needs to on a breaker to handle the amps) just for the fan, but the problem would be 'cycling' the fan. For example: presently your fan goes 'on and off' by the thermostat. But if you wire your fan on a separate circuit - you would need a way to cycle it - and you would want to cycle it with the rest of your AC. You could always install a 'on/off' switch somewhere in the RV where you could manually turn it on and off - but I would think that would be more trouble than it was worth.

What you would need to do - is to wire the motor into a separate "relay" which would be controlled by your thermostat. Here is where it get's "sticky" cause you need to know a little about electricity in order to make sure you - dot all the i's and cross all the t's.

If you are pretty good with electricity then you should be able to get a 'relay' where the 'coil' (in the relay) is the same voltage as your thermostat - and then wire the relay so it will (via the thermostat) control the "line voltage" to the fan.

If you are not (good with electricity) I would obtain the help (hire someone if you have to) of someone to assist me.

Even if you have to pay someone - you're looking at a small outlay of money. I would venture to guess - parts and labor of $150 if he/she is fair.

hope this helps

SOURCE: my questain is can you oil or grease the fan

Usually not on these types of units. If it is squealing, it will eventually seize. You could try spraying some wd-40 on the shaft when the motor is running and then turning it off and letting the wd soak for a while. Usually when wd is sprayed on a motor with bad bearings, it will loosen all the gunk up and make the motor louder than before, but I have had kill the squeal a few times. This is an at your own risk type fix as it could make the problem worse. Best option is to buy a new motor or unit. Sometimes the motor will cost a few dollars less than a brand new unit.

Power cable is out of Air Conditoner what to do in this case?

Hi, if the unit fell and pulled the cord out, all you can do is to wire it back in. The unit is probably 220 volts, so it will be fairly easy to do. Look at the wiring and see where the wires have come off. All you have is 3- wires and a ground. Look at the wiring diagram, and it will show you exactly how to do this.

I replaced the power cord on a carrier ac window unit 24000 btu model yc-d , now the compressor will not shut off regardless the thermostat setting

You have probably one wire in the wrong place on the back of the switch. There should be a wiring diagram near the electrical compartment on the window unit. It will show you where the wire needs to be. You are probably just a terminal off.

For a/c unit, is there an adapter available or do I need a new plug cord

Actually you should buy and install an AC wall outlet. An AC uses more amperage than most any other appliance due to the fact it has 2 motors the compressor and the blower / fan motor. An AC wall plug has larger terminals so that the plug does not ever heat. Changing the cord to a different and smaller terminal plug is a bad choice due to the danger of overheating the wall outlet terminals. You can buy the AC horizontal terminal outlets at any hardware store. Unless you have a 110V AC unit you will also have to run a 220V #10 Romex (3 wire) with ground to the outlet to be in code.. An AC unit 1 HP (10,000) BTU or larger requires over 15 Amps for start up. Those that are 20,000 BTU or larger obviously require more than 15 amps as a power source.

Thanks for using FixYa.
