If there is no separate power supply the usb plug must be used in order to provide power for the speakers, but whether the analogue cable must be plugged in or not will depend on the internal construction and specification of the speakers.

I suggest you initially use the usb and if there is no sound and no on-screen instructions, plug in the analogue line.

If there is a separate power supply the speakers are probably and either/or design.

SOURCE: can i add any speakers to my dell vostro 200?

No you don't. As long as you can plug the speakers to the green port on the back of the computer, the speakers are powered and the volume knob on the speakers is turned all the way up. You should hear sound.

Also make sure the sound is not muted in windows.

Where is the speaker bar plug on a dell monitor

This plugs into the tower unit sound output. It is on the back of the tower and will have a speaker icon. There is no sound out on a common dell monitor.

What can i do,coz am connecting a dell speaker model A225 on an hp laptop shows that its working but no sound produced

I assume you are using the headphone jack on the HP? You do know they need powering from the USB port? First try headphones and see if they work, then unplug speakers but leave the USB cable in and turn up volume to full and tap the end of the audio plug. Can you hear a click from the loudspeakers? report back

Where do I connect the speakers to the monitor. I have a Flatron L1922P monitor. I ordered 2.0 USB Multimedia speakers that come with a 3.5mm stereo plug and USB plug. I must not being doing something...

Your speakers do not plug into your monitor. Your speakers should be connected to a USB slot on your PC tower and the 3.5mm stereo plug should be put into the green stereo jack on your PC tower. If your audio jacks on your PC are not colour coded, then you should look for the jack which has a picture of a set of earphones over them.
Depending on your speakers, you may or may not be required to keep the stereo plug connected in order to get sound. Some models transmit model over the USB connection and others just use the USB connection as a way to supply power to the speakers and need the stereo plug to be connected in order to have sound. I suggest trying both.

My dell computer will not recognize the logitech speakers. I think it is something to do with the usb plug in versus a normal "jack" type plug in. I am using Vista as my OS>

Ok firstly make sure that the the speakers are connected to the green port at the back of the system tower. connect the usb cable to the usb port.

check with a headphone if there is sound . If sound is present then connect the speakers as above and then click start control panel - sounds - on this screen see if the speaker icon has a green check mark beside it , if not then click on the speakers and click use default device option present at the bottom of the screen. This should fix it.

In cases where the screen is greyed out .
strt - rgt click on computer - manage - device manager - audio device - chcek if ter is a yellow ! or red X beside it al;so check if you see other devices on screen
You could reinstall the audio drivers from the dell website support.dell.com for a DELL desktop . Reinstalling audio drivers should fix it.

try using the speaker on other system .

Hope its informative :)

Only the sub anbd one of the four tower speakers

The center one, right? You need to plug in all 3 plugs in the sound card, otherwise they won't work.
