To make sense of boyds hyrogliphics... The motors have Starting Capacitors. If the capacitor goes bad the motor might jump a bit but doesn't have enough umph to spin. That's why it'll run if you help it.
The motor also has Brushes. That is what makes the electrical contact to the motor. These do wear, if they are almost worn out, they do not make a good contact. They can be replaced.
Last year, my husband bought a lawn mower in a hypermarket outside the city. He was happy with the acquisition as a child, but until a certain time. Our lawn mower was used by all the cunning neighbors who allegedly don't have the ability to buy an electric one. People have a three-story house, but they cannot buy some kind of lawn mower. Funny, huh? Naturally, after a while the lawnmower started to junk, it just stopped starting. We found a master who tried to save our apparatus, but the miracle didn't happen. The master recommended us the excellent , thanks to which we learned a lot of useful innovations and, most importantly, we found a new excellent electric lawn mower. In any case, this is better than running every time after another breakdown to the masters. After all, any thing wears out. And as a result of eternal repairs, instead of an excellent lawn mower, you get a faulty terminator, in which absolutely all parts are replaced, if only it at least turns on.

one of the problems i found with electric detectors was that they do not tell you if there is a break in the neutral cable so you could have a break there, another problem is that the levers can break inside the cover giving the impression that it should work but is not making contact with the switch ,hope this helps

You need to check the fuel line for cracks/breaks. Check the fuel filter if it has one. If these two things are o.k., then you will need to clean the carb. It probably has debris in it.

you'll need to pull the starter. It sound like your Bendick's is bad. that's the upper gear drive assay. the only other res ion would be, low power to the starter, and not receiving an acquit amount of amp to reach the rpm's it needs. good luck
Testimonial: "Thank you for the advice.... I will check out the Bendix to see if that is the problem. Jim"
