This must be done before you ever put anything on the recovery partition d: , if you used d: for anything you need to remove what you put there or the recovery will not function.
Simple. Just remove the CMOS battery and the power from the pc. Wait for about 30 minutes. Plug in the power cable and power it on. The Pc will be passwordless. Setup your Windows and power it off. Place the CMOS battery back into socket and you are good to go.
Contact Dell yourself with information. They will not call you. You must contact them.

Find the service tag on the bottom of your laptop, and go to
www.bios-unlock.com you can get a password that will allow you to change the pw or disable this feature. Worked for me.

Every manufacture has or uses different Function Key combinations to do a Factory Default Recovery. Also if it didn't come with disks there is normally a program in the menus to create your own set of recovery CDs. This must be done before you ever put anything on the recovery partition d: , if you used d: for anything you need to remove what you put there or the recovery will not function.
