Depending on which model you have, it could be a couple things. Look on the side for a little slide button. If you see orange, that would mute the sound. If there is no button, try pressing the upper button to increase the volume level. I hope this helps!
firstly check if your volume is not all the way by going to the home screen and increasing the volume.
second go to the setting then notifications and check the app in question it might have auto turned off with an update or something.
PS: I haven't used an apple device in a long time but im pretty sure its in the setting the under 'notifications' if not there then maybe under the 'sounds' tab
try turning the volume up. My iPad mini seems to have a lower volume level than my iPhones. The external speakers are almost inaudible unless turned way up, so I mostly use ear buds on it. But be careful using the earbuds! turn the volume down and gradually increase to a comfortable level,
Do you have a case on the iPad? Sometimes an ill-fitting case can trigger the buttons by itself. If there is any lint or dirt between the case and the iPad, it can cause the same issue. If you have headphones with a volume controller on the cable - check that that is not being pressed by accident. You can also check to see if there is any lint caught inside the headphone hole. Sometimes that can cause a little electrical short and trigger funny behavior on the iPad. If none of those solve your problem, take it to the apple store, it could just be a faulty switch.
If the max volume of the device is not adequate consider getting speakers. Some individual apps have separate volume controls that may allow you to increase the volume.
Try adjust the control panel to full volume. If it the volume is still too low to hear movie conversation, put the movie back to computer and use some video tool to set it volume up. I think the pavtube video converter can increase video volume by 400% by converting them.
Does it show a little "locked" symbol when you're trying to max the volume? You may have accidentally activated your volume limit. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/guide-setting-ipad-part-2/ If you excluded those issues, and you actually have a hardware issue. You
can always take it to the apple store and demonstrate the problem there,
you'll probably receive a replacement. If you have issues with the
warranty, there are third party places that will find our what's wrong.
If you want to do it yourself, the good news is, it's not too hard to
