My estate by whirlpool washer stated leaking and I do not think it is the pump. I need to know how to open the top. It leaks right away when I start putting in the water.

It is common on Whirlpool models for the water to splash out the top when filling especially when sheets or nylon cloth is loaded in the washer. Air fills the cloth and balloons the garment up this caused water to bounce off the garment and splash out the back. This is the most common reason for those mysterious leaks. Lowering the water pressure coming into the washer can help prevent this.
Most likely you have a leaking water pump. This is not too hard to change if you are somewhat mechanically inclined it is around a 5 on a scale of 10. Your model # should be on the back of machine towards the top. If you want to change it yourself let me know and I will give you directions. Let me know if I can do anything else to help.
Opened the Washer and found there was a leak in the pump. Got an M-Seal and just put it on the leak. 45 mins later the machine was in action again. It took time for me to figure out where the problem was, once you know exactly where it is you should be able to fix it.
Fist place to check is the outlet hose at the back of the machine it will leak as soon as water enters the tub, see if is leaking there, if it is you just have to tighten the clamp . if not there are a few hoses inside of the machine that may need clamps tightend also. The motor is seperated from the water so that wont be leaking. It could also be the electric water inlet valve that is leaking. let me know what you find out !
you can tip this unit back, the bottom is open and then oyull be able to see where the leak is coming from, any part wharehouse(online stores as well) will stock the pump if needed.. most common cause of leaking pump is fron center shaft youll see the water line
In the front of the machine below the door you have a panel. There are 3 torx screws holding it from under.Unscrew and pull panel down and then towards you.You will see the pump assembly right in the center with big black hoses. You need a pair of pliers and a shop-vac if you have one, or towels and a bucket.Use the pliers to unscrew the pump filter, it is white in colour. When you unscrew this water will start to leak out; use towels or shop-vac to mop up.Do this till all water is mopped.Remove the drain trap completely, you will find much junk; clean out completely and refit carefully, in reverse order. You can rate me……the above is for a similar(?) whirlpool.
IN FRONT? IF SO, PULL IT OUT AWAY FROM WALL 2 FEET AND LEAN BACK AGAINST WALL. LOOK UNDER MACHINE IN FRONT, PUMP HAS 2 HOSES ATTACHED. IF LEAKING THROUGH PUMP, REPLACE THE PUMP.
