If you can't remember the passcode for your Kindle, you'll need to reset your device. Press the Keyboard key to bring up the onscreen keyboard. Type reset my kindle into the passcode field, and then use the 5-way controller to select Done.
You can change the password to your Kindle Fire from the Security Settings menu on the device if you know the current password. However, if you have forgotten your passcode, you will need to perform a factory reset to restore original settings to the device. Once factory settings are restored, re-register your device with your Amazon credentials and sync your device with your account to restore your downloaded items.
Kindle Fire: If you can't remember your lock screen password or PIN, you will need to reset your Kindle Fire.
Important: Resetting your Kindle Fire will remove your personal information (including your lock screen password or PIN), Amazon account information, and downloaded content and apps. Any content you purchased from Amazon is automatically saved to the Cloud. You can download that content when you register your Kindle Fire to your account again.
From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left.
