Currently, it is closer to plane won't work but then it will suddenly operate. You can remove only the lid without removing the bowl and we are back to not working.
Hello, Michael -
I see that your model of KitchenAid food processor has a 5-year warranty:
https://www.kitchenaid.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchResultView?catalogId=10552&langId=-1&storeId=10202
Click or tap on the link for the warranty on that page.
If you have owned the food processor for less than 5 years and still have the sales receipt, you may be eligible for replacement part or replacement of the entire food processor. Read the 2-page warranty information in full.
I hope you have already referred to the Owner's Manual for your food processor, page 29, the Troubleshooting section. If you do not have the manual, you can find the link for it on the webpage with the link given above.
Best wishes.
The solution is 90% going to be replace the lid, or replace the bowl or if you are very unlucky replace both. A proper KitchenAid service agent should have both parts on the shelf and will be able to try a new one of either to see where the fault lies. I think over the years I've replaced more lids than I have bowls.
SOURCE: my kitchenaid processor is not working
The Kitchenaid food processors have a few safety features implimented. If the unit is not assembled properly, this may prevent the unit from turning on. I am thinking this is an issue of assembly because the light is on, so the unit is definitely getting power.
Proper assembly is below:
If it isn't all ready, please disassemble the entire unit. This means removing the blade and/or disc, blade, removing work bowl, work bowl lid, and blade.
Start by placing the work bowl onto the motor base. The work bowl handle should be facing at 9 o'clock, which is out to your left. Rotate the handle downward until it locks in at the 6 o'clock position, which will lock over the center of the button panel.
Repeat the process with the work bowl lid. The blade does not need to be present for the motor to engage, if this is an assembly issue.

I found this phone number for repair parts on the GE housewares website: "In 2000, GE housewares products became available through Wal-Mart. For repair or parts, you may call 877-207-0923 (for US) 877-556-0973 (for Canada) or you may return your product to your local Wal-Mart." http://www.gehousewares.com/Contact_Us.aspx They also have downloadable manuals there. Hope this helps
SOURCE: I am unable to remove the disc stem
My disc stem got stuck. I added boiling water to the bowl and left it a few minutes. After some jiggling of the stem it came off.

Does the actuator push down far enough to catch the button at the bottom? I repaired one simply by adding a vinyl screw cover to the top of the button so it was tall enough to be reached by the actuator.
Testimonial: "really helpful thanks"
