If you want to turn the freezer off just unplug it. If you want it to keep cold but not run continuously turn the thermostat back on and set to lowest setting

SOURCE: Replacement thermostat in chest freezer

in order for the "stat" to sense the coldness of the freezer box it needs to be within the chilled space. it is probably held on by a couple of clips on the underside of the freezer compartment on the evaporator plate.

SOURCE: kenmore chest freezer not working

Remove the panel covering the compressor. Remove the relay plugged on the side of the compressor and shake it. If it rattles or has any burned spots it is shorted out. Try replacing it first. Make sure you replace it with the correct replacement, not a fit-all. If this is not the problem you will need to replace the compressor. If it is less than 5 yrs old the compressor should still be in warranty. If so call Sears, it will be repaired free of charge. If it is out of warranty buy a new freezer.

SOURCE: freezer stops and start

ice cream is always the last to freeze and a temp of minus -10 degrees is usually required to get it to get hard. if you put the ice cream in the door it will be especially tough to freeze. a good thermometor is a good investment as you can observe the temps. usually ten degrees or 20 degrees is what they run. yes they do cycle on and off as long as they hold temps thats good. the outside of the freezer gets warm because the hot compressed refrigerant is spread through piping near its surface giving up its heat of compression . setting the stat to max will freeze the ice cream eventually but utility bill suffers . good luck

SOURCE: chest freezer ices up quicker than it should

if the box has mold between the seal and liner the the seal isn't the main problem, the main problem is the liner is bad and by time you got both parts if you can it would cost more than to replace the freezer.

SOURCE: chest freezer not freezing

home refrigeration units are not designed to work in low temperature areas. where temps will drop below 45f so that is your problem. this is listed in your owners manual if you want to verify. thx peyton

Hi we have a norfrost chest freezer it is freezing everything but bread on superfreeze when we take it off of superfreeze it defrosted the bread

sounds like the thermostat is at fault or more than likely the refridgerant gas has partially escaped due to a leak, check te seals on the doors first. hope this helps.

Igloo chest freezer 7.2 cubic ft seems running all the time?

It may be on "superfreeze", if there is a yellow light, or it may be set for too low a temperature (try setting the thermostat down to 1 or 2). Check the condenser is clean, and fan working if it has a fan, Check lid is closing properly and the ambient temperature isn't too high.. Lastly, if all else working correctly, suspect short of refrigerant.

Compressor runs but freezer not getting cold

Have the gas checked. If the thermostat pick-up is frozen over that could result in the contents of the freezer not getting cold, but for that there would have to be a build up of ice on the sides of the freezer.

Would a bad thermostat cause my danby to not completely freeze?

Should operate 24 hours before putting anything in that is not already frozen. Check it again after it has run for 24 hours. Anytime you adjust the thermostat go one click at a time and wait 24 hours for it to stabilize.

Small Kalvinator chest freezer quit working,

If not running then jump out thermostat. If running then throw it out as it has a sealed system issue not worth repairing unless it is under wty. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks
