I had this problem after changing the drum rollers and idler on A Maytag - was not careful enough with the rubber seal from the lint tray to the blower. Resulting in the blower sucking cold air from the floor.

Result - high heat and never shut off.

Was running a load of towels on auto sensor timer. Heard a pop and the dryer shut off. Sensor light was lit on wet. The dryer will not start under any settings. Sensor lights will flash on sometime,...

If you heard a pop then your belt probably fell off. There is a belt safety switch that wont allow the dryer to turn on if the belt is not attached

Amana dryer not advancing on auto

Make sure the vent from the dryer to the outside is clean.
Reduced air flow can cause your symptom.

You can remove the vent hose from the dryer and operate the dryer in the automatic cycle.'
If the timer advances you know the vent needs cleaning.
Clean the lint filter housing also.
A flashlight helps to see all the way down the housing.

Auto Dry not advancing

It sounds like a timer problem since it happens during timed also. Some dryers don't have an actual moisture sensor for auto dry. They work by knowing that as long as the clothes are wet the temp won't go past a certain point. As the clothes dry it trips a thermostat that lets the timer advance. Until this is fixed DON"T trust the timer to shut off the dryer. Sometimes it won't or could leave the dryer running for hours. This has nothing whatsoever to do with fuses. There are no fuses in a dryer. Just high limit thermostats and other devices that will shut off the heat but usually not the motor.

Auto feature

Faulty selector switch or control card. There is the possibility of a faulty moisture sensor. Can you operate the machine in manual mode ?
