Do you have to have cable tv to have netflix?

No, you do not have to have Cable TV in order to get the Netflix service. However, in order to watch Netflix you basically need to have an internet connection preferable of decent speed. You will also need a supported device that will let you watch Netflix.

The internet speed will ultimately determine whether you get quality video output on the device you intended to watch Netflix.

You can watch Netflix on your computer or you can use a device (generally now called a media device) that will allow for you to watch Netflix on your TV.

The Netflix app comes on many different media devices, which you essentially plug to you TV and connect to your home Internet connection.

Newer TV have the Netflix app built in to them as well as Internet. These TVs are referred to as Smart TV.

Right of the top of my head are the following Netflix capable devices Xbox 360, Roku, Wii...

Here are a list of other supported devices on Netflix's Website:

Humming sound when watching tv,but not when watching dvd's

It wounds like you are getting interference from you tv to the receiver. You can try a few different things here.

1. Connect the tv output into another input on you receiver to see if it isnt the channel on the receiver.

2. Try a different set of cables between the tv and receiver. Faulty cables can give you problems.

3. Connect the cable from you tv to a different device. (another dvd vcr blue ray etc.) This will tell you if its the receivers or the tv.

Can I watch tv with the timer on the dvd recorder turned on?

Hook up the cable wire that comes directly from the wall to the dvd recorder's in connection, then get a 3 ft cable cord and connect from the out of the dvd recorder to the in on the tv. You should be able to set the dvd recorder channel and timer and leave it off. you then should be able to have your tv on and watch any station but to watch the tv with dvd recorder on, your tv should be set to either channel 3 or 4 depending on the switch on back of dvd recorder. I hope this solves your problem. Foxpaw13

How to connect a vcr for recording programs

1 - To start with..
Plug aerial lead into the "RF input" on rear of vcr
--> now you can tape programs (providing vc is "tuned" correctly)

2 - Plug a lead from "RF output" into tv's "RF input"
--> now you can watch programs on tv _independently_ of vcr (ie can be watching 1 program & taping a separate one on vcr)

3 - Plug red/white/yellow cable from vcr's "VIDEO/AUDIO output" into tv's "VIDEO/AUDIO input"
--> now you can
1) play a tape in vcr, & watch it on tv
& 2) change what watching on tv via vcr's remote

* Note: This is for analogue terrestial television (aerial on roof), not digital/satellite tv, connecting to stereo, etc, etc (the "more involved " setups)

Watch while recording

Make sure the DVD has RF lead and Scart lead connected in and also BOTH connected out to the TV. When you record from TV use channel numbers, when you record from cable use AV channel, (on DVD). When watching TV use TV channels 1 to 5, when watching Cable use AV channel, (on TV).
