Depending on the age of your unit, having to skin the unit to get the coil out, remove the bad coil, weld the new coil in, pressure check it, pull a vacuum for 4 hours, then charge it could cost upwards of $2500. More depending on the fridge. When your replacing coils, it's time to go buy a new fridge. It's not cost effective and the waranty would only cover the coil

Was it the damper control you replaced and it's still not adjusting the vent(damper)?
And is the cold air from the freezer being blown through the vent by the fan in the freezer.
The circuit board mainly controls the defrost timing and the fans. I don't know that it would solve your problem.

you have a defrost problem, could be bad adaptive defrost board,t-stat heater,when you open freezer door listen for fan if fan is blowing check the t-stat,look at it and see if it has a buldge on it,sometime you can see this and tell it's bad,you'll need a meter to read out the heater and other parts to see whats bad,might be a good idea to call a tech to do this,when you find problem you have to melt everything out again

i have the same problem and the maytag repair man said 99% of the time its the auto defrost board. i ordered one from ebay for 32.02 and will let you know if it works when it gets here.

cjk the fans and if working . the defrost system is failing it may be a defrost terminator ( very common ) ar the a d c aditive defrost control . mm

Hi Rob,
The problem in your case is most probably with the defrost thermostat.
It can be found on the evaporator i.e. freezing coils , it's round disc like with two wires.
If you get this replaced with a new proper working unit ,
Also make sure you replace the defrost timer as well if the problem persists.
