SOURCE: Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse
Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver
SOURCE: are the nuts holding on the blades reverse threaded?
If a blade, when viewed from above, rotates clockwise, it will have right-handed threads. This is because the shaft is turning to the right, and the resistance imparted on the blade will tend to tighten a right-handed fastener. If a blade rotates counter-clockwise it will have a left-handed fastener. I don't know this mower, but this is a universal thing.
SOURCE: Put mower in reverse, turned it off and mower
There are safety interlocks on zero turn mowers. These prevent starting unless you have:
1. the handles in 'neutral' position
2. the brake on
3. the mower engagement (PTO) switch off
4. yourself in the seat.
Chances are one of these conditions hasn't been met. Since you were reversing when it happened, perhaps you haven't got the handles back to neutral position?
