Have an LG 50PN6500 plasma that’s 4 years old. Picture is still great, but last year it started powering off by itself for a few minutes at a time, then it would turn back on. We took it to the local LG repair shop (who “tested” it for a month), but said it never shut off on its own, and the service menu wasn’t logging any error codes. We took the tv back and it was running fine for about a month, but now it will shut off from odd IR blasts, then turn back on after a few minutes. Such as pressing SLEEP on the factory LG remote to bring up the sleep menu will shut it off, and adjusting the volume on our Yamaha amp with a Harmony remote will also shut the tv off temporarily. At first I was thinking it may have been the psb, but when the repair shop said it never shut off for them, I’m thinking it may be the input board since it’s reacting to IR blasts. Anyone have any ideas?

Some components in the TV, and most likely in the power supply are starting to become temperature sensitive. Some Capacitors tend to become this way when they age. To find the temperature sensitive caps that are failing it will take a very experienced TV or electronics service person with a supply of liquid air and a heat gun to thermo test. He will also require the proper test equipment to verify. The big service centers should be able to troubleshoot for this, but the time involved and the cost of the parts will be expensive. If the set is out of warranty, it would be more feasible to get a new one!

These LCDs have a feature to turn OFF after some time if they do not sense any signal getting into the TV, that is why when you use it as a PC monitor and leave ON; it will turn OFF by itself.
The short term solution to make the LCD power up properly when using it as a PC monitor would be to unplug it when it turns OFF by itself and plug it back in.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: LG 47LC7DF LCD TV Remote Sensor not working

IR senor may not be bad. Try using a different remote (universal) and program to TV. If universal remote works and your doesn't, you may need to purchase a remote instead of IR board. If you confirmed that the IR board is bad then replacing the IR board will fix the remote issue. IR board is an easy fix. Just open the back cover out and it's located right in the middle toward the bottom of the TV.

My lg plasma tv has sudenly when i put it on crackles and sound goes i switch it off and leave it for a few minutes and the sound comes back on

Rice Crispies? We hope not. You may also want to check your connections for security. Switch out your audio cable (s) to rule that out. If that does not correct the issue and your settings are standard, you may need service. ^CL

I have an LG 50PS8000 plasma tv which is nearly 2 years old. For the last few months its has occassionally been getting a red haze over the entire screen which either dissapeared on its own or went if you...

I've also had a popping noise on our 50" LG plasma TV, however the picture has not gone, but has turned grainy and colors are weird. Can this also be a blown fuse or a more severe problem (ysus board or similar)?

LG AC compressor problem

Compressor may be locking up. Run capacitor may be weak or loose wire. Sounds like major voltage drop off as unit head pressure increases.
