Purchased a outdoor timer Intertek 4008190 and set it for 6 hours. It worked but I got up at 6am and it was on again. Also one on my back porch went on at 3:30pm before the sun set.

Purchased at Menards ModelEHCTMER010 Menards SKU:3681816

SOURCE: Timer has worked in the past as programed.

I test timers.
Timers go bad.
EJ351 has 1 year limited warranty.
Wiring is correct or timer would not operate.
Bulb is good.

I would reset timer again and re-program.
If timer still will not function, then timer has gone bad.
Following page has manual:
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20indoor%20timers/in-wall%20timers/ej351c.aspx
Reset instructions: Move the control lever to the OFF-CLEAR position for about
20 seconds. The red indicator light will go off and any previous
time settings will be cleared from memory.

How to program a 1000 watt Woods outdoor timer that has only one button.?

If you look on the back, you will find the instructions engraved in it. You will need good eyesight. Is it the one with the photocell for Christmas lights? Plug it in, press the button once for set, press again until you reach the number of hours (say 6) after dark you want it it on. Take note that when you set it, the light will be on. It won't work properly until the next day. On at dusk (5:00pm is) and off after the preset (6) hours.

I dont no how to set the timer to 24 hr clock

change to 12 clock
however a 24 hour clock has the same times up to midday -- midnight to midday --- the hours are 1 to 12 oclock after midday you take 2 off the reading and it is the same time as a 12 hour clock
so 1300 is 1 o'clock, 1400 is 2 oclock ,1500 is 3 o'clock
1800 is 6 o'clock 2400 is midnight
the minutes are the same regardless so 1.30 is 1.30 after midnight or 1330 after midday or 1.30 after midday now for example --if you want the timer to start at 6am you set the timer to start at 6 am to switch off at 8 am set switch of at 8 am
it you want the timer to start at 6 pm set it at 1800 and switch off at 10pm set it at 2200 hrs

I have the timer set, all 7 cycles to come on at 6am go off at 6pm. set and checked. put mode on auto but light did not come on. it only came on when set on the on mode. please help, thank you

You are having problem programming zilla digital power strip timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#zilla

Either timer is defective, or programming has conflicts that cause timer to ignore programming, or blue-yellow outlets are not understood, or combination of these problems.

Zilla yellow outlets are for daytime hours.
Blue outlets for nighttime.
The instruction manual does NOT specify what hours are for daytime. 6 am to 6 pm? Or 12 am to 12pm?
The zilla analog timer divides day and night at 12 and 12.

If digital timer is also 12 and 12, then you cannot set ON at 5:59am and OFF at 5:59pm without fudging the current time setting. For example offset current time by exactly 6 hours.

I set the timer for 6 hours, it went on at dusk but it blinks instead of staying on.

Two things can cause problem.
1) defective timer
2) feedback from nearby lights

Make sure timer is turned away from lights so photo-eye doesn't receive feedback.
Feedback is when the photo eye gets too much light, and then timer thinks it's dawn, so lights turn off, and a moment later photo eye thinks it's dusk again and lights turn on again.
Feedback from lights will cause timer to reset the 6 hour countdown.
A car pulling in the driveway can cause feedback.
If the timer resets because of feedback, it begins the 6 hour countdown again, so the lights will not turn off until much later, or at dawn.

You can test timer by putting black tape over photo eye, and then timer will turn on.
Set timer for 2 hours for example and then check if timer turned off 2 hours later.

If timer is not functioning correctly, then timer is defective.

I set my outdoor timer for 6 hours after dusk and the christmas lights go off after about hours. I have another set on the other side of the railing plugged into a seperate timer (same brand) on the other...

You see the idea that many folks miss >> that nearby lights cause outdoor timers to blink and not work.
Test if neighbor's lights are the problem or if timer is defective:
Put black tape over photo eye on timer.

I test timers.
About 5% of the timers I receive factory-fresh are defective out of the box, and a large number of good timers go bad within a year or less.
Most timers have no warranty or limited 1 year warranty.

Add a comment and let me know the outcome and what brand and model timer you have, for my notes.

Lights continue to go off

Maybe the lights are causing photoelectric eye to sense that it's no longer dark.
This is called feedback.
To check this, set timer for 2 hours.
Put black tape over photoeye.
Check if timer turns on-and-off.

If timer continues to blink, then timer is suspect. Return it for another one.
If feedback is causing the problem, then turn timer away from lights or place obstruction between timer and lights.
