Washer stalls mid-cycle and keeps running but doesn't progress

My washer starts, runs to mid-cycle, the clock stops advancing and the machine just runs, slowly flopping the clothes back and forth. sometimes it just loses power at this point, no error message, just stops. at this point, usually hitting the top or side of the washer has restored power, but the cycle still would not complete. when the repairman comes out, he finds nothing wrong and says the cycles complete.

No cycle runs longer than 20 minutes and the clothes are still dripping wet when done.

The motor could be overheating and shutting down. Does it stop mid cycle and the timer keep advancing? if so when it stops wait for it to cool down and try starting it again. If it will not start for a few min. then does it is the motor overheating.

Whirlpool commercial washer stopped running mid

Most likely the pump is plugged with lint, pillow stuffing, a small object, or some other obstruction which is not allowing the motor to turn.

Washer stopping mid-cycle

Push down on lid. You may have a bad lid switch. Start machine and press the switch down with something like a screwdriver and see if the motor runs.

Stops mid cycle

It may be a out of balance alarm during a spin cycle. Re-balance the clothes and hit start.
