Some sets have more than one input for signal. Make sure that you are using the correct one of OTA transmissions.
If still not working return set since it is apparently defective.

SOURCE: tuning in the tv

Most TV's auto search feature will try both the Cable and the Air frequencies, but perhaps yours doesn't. Go to the menu page for tuner setup and make sure it is set on Air (might be called broadcast) and then run the channel search.
Cable channels and Broadcast channels (above channel 12) are not the same frequencies.

SOURCE: unable to view digitial tv pictures but audio and analogue pictures work

If you have cable and a top of set box , it may be the problem. If you hook the cable direct to the set and still no digital ... then the TV could have a defective digital board. The tuner is on this board and the tuner gets both analog and digital signals.

The picture doesn't hold. The picture shows just snow on the tv.

VCRs are analogue. So their tuners won't pick up digital TV signals, and their output from the aerial socket is analogue too. You'll have to make sure your TV is on the analogue TV tuner and then tuned to the VCR output channel if you want to use the aerial connection for viewing. It's probably a lot simpler though to use the VCR's AV output to the TV.

If you connect a TV receiver (Aerial/cable/satellite) to the AV input on the VCR, then switch the VCR to that AV input, you will see and be able to record programmes.

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

BElectric

My Polaroid HDTV says no signal. What is going on.

  • Have you plugged in the arial?
  • Is it in the right socket?
  • Are you using an aerial cable extender/splitter?
  • Are you using a portable indoor aerial?
  • Does it have built in Freeview?
  • Have you plugged in an external Freeview box if necessary?
  • Have you scanned for channels through the Freeview box?
  • Are you in an area where the analogue signal has been turned off?
  • Have you subscribed to a cable or satellite provider?
  • Are you on the right TV source?
  1. check the back of the tv to see if the aerial is plugged in.
  2. check the back of the tv to see if the aerial is plugged in correctly.
  3. If you are using an aerial cable extender or splitter, make sure all parts are connected all the way up to the aerial.
  4. If you're using a portable indoor aerial you might not be able to get enough signal to produce a picture. Also the aerial might need to be switched on, plugged in or need batteries.
  5. If the TV has Freeview built-in then you will need to scan for channels before you will get a picture. refur to you're TV's manual.
  6. Make sure, if you have got an external Freeview box that it is plugged in and switched on at the wall. Also make sure that it is connected to the TV either by a scart lead or by HDMI cable.
  7. Typically there will be a button on the remote called menu. From the menu screen choose setup. Then choose auto scan. Follow any on-screen instructions. Always refur to the TV's manual to avoid confusion and frustration.
  8. If you are in an area where they have switched off the analogue signal you will need to buy a Freeview box or subscribe to a cable or satellite provider. Freeview is cheep and is a one off payment ( best for people who will only really watch channels 1-5)
  9. Ring up your providers tech support.
  10. To change what input you are viewing, there will normally be a button called source on the remote. If you have connected a Freeview or cable/satalite box to the tv with a scart lead then select scart. If you used a HDMI lead then select HDMI. (There may be more than one of theses sockets so check behind the TV first. They usually have names or numbers by the side) refur to you're TV manual for help.
That is every problem i can think of. If it still doesnt work, take it back to the shop.
Hope this helps.

I need a user manual for a Techwood LVD2263D flatscreen tv. I cannot install & re-tune to view TV channels

~

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service and Installation Instructions as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

You will need to have an outdoor aerial installed, the signal area you're now living in will not be a strong enough reception for an indoor aerial no matter how good or expensive. You could try the indoor aerial in different positions around the room especially by a window to try & pick up some other channels but the long term this will cause some of the programmes to break up or freeze. An aerial on the roof or in the attic will be your best solution to pick up all the digital channels on freeview.
