SOURCE: how to thread sewing machine

Yes, but it is a good basic machine.
Here's how to thread it:
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

SOURCE: How to thread bicor vx 1005 sewing machine?

Most older machines start the thread from the spool on a spool holder then the thread goes through a tension dial, on to another tension holder inside the case. Then make sure the thread is going through a lever that goes up and down with the needle, through a thread holder near the needle.

Singer 1022 Sewing Machine. The thread keeps breaking on it.

Question edited for clarity.

I was built before cell phones or desktop computers! Older sewing machines are more reliable that the new fancy electronic ones.

Broken thread is usually caused by old rotten thread, cotton breaks down, or you may have a bad batch. Or it is caused by incorrect threading, or incorrect tension (upper or even bobbin tension). Or the machine needs cleaning, servicing and timing.

Manual to check threading and tension.

I need a manual for a singer touch and sew machine. It,s pretty old so i gope you can help me. I don,t know how to wind the bobbin. Help!!

Unlikely you will get a manual but here are the instructions.
Presser foot up, thread the top of the machine as normal all the way and through the needle, open slide plate, push the little button to the side and the winder will raise, take the thread from the needle and wind it round a few times round the screw that holds the presser foot on, gently press on the foot control and the needle will go up and down winding the bobbin, when you have enough thread on the bobbin close the slide plate and you will hear the winder drop down, pull the thread to the back of the machine and you are ready to sew

I have a white sewing machine model #426, the thread breaks at the needle as soon as it starts to sew. I cleaned and oiled the machine.

Could be a couple of things so best to trouble shoot the following possible causes:

Cheap thread, brittle old thread. Always store thread in an airtight container out of sunlight and don't use the cheap 5 rolls in a bag in the bargain bin in your sewing machine, fine for hand tacking but not good to machines. Brands like Gutermann, Metrosyne or Sylko Supreme are good.

Needle bent or has a burr on it or is in backwards. Change needle, flat shank to the back.

Thread is catching somewhere on the threading path from spool to needle. Or hooking up on the thread spool itself, some brands have a little notch cut in top to hold the thread tail, but thread can catch in this as you start to stitch. Turn thread spool up other way or use a mushroom cap over the spool to help thread to run off smoothly.

Thread top tension is too tight, should be on 5. When you lower the pressure foot and pull the thread from below the tension device, can you feel firm tension on the thread. Should still be able to pull it though. If you can't pull it it at all when set to 5 then device is faulting.

Obviously if you have tried all of the above and it is still faulting, or you thing the top tension device is the cause, then you could try cleaning the top tension discs (turn to zero and floss with dental floss, check one of my other solutions, I've covered this lots), then I'd suggest it needs a professional service.

If you don't have a manual for your machine they are available from Singer website, http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals, type in W426 then click "search", often free as pdf files.

Upper thread brakes often. The baste stitch is way too loose on underside of stitched fabric. I have taken it for a ture-up ($65) at a sewing machine repair shop... and it still has these issues. This is...

It could be your thread is old, dry and brittle, always store out of sunlight and in airtight container to avoid this. You could try putting the thread into the fridge overnight to add a bit of moisture back into it. Or buy some new thread and try again. Also, always use same thread on top as in the bobbin, don't be tempted to just use an old bobbin of thread you have already as different colours and thread top and bottom will affect stitching quality.

If you are getting loops on the underside it also sounds like top tension is not right. Check dial is on 5, and always raise the pressure foot when you are threading up so the tension is open for the thread to go into.

Then lower the pressure foot and pull on the thread below the tension - it should feel firm when you pull it. Also revisit your threading up, it is possible that the thread is catching somewhere between the spool and needle causing it to break so check with your manual carefully to see if you have missed a threading eye.

Failing all of this, go back to the shop and ask them to watch you thread up and see if they can spot the issue.

My machine will sew about 2" and then its stop and the word E6 appear. I have clean and vacumm the bobbin case and as much as i could clean , but it still does the same thing. Is there anything...

Go to www.brother-usa.com and under customer support and home sewing & embroidery, download a free manual. You will find that E6 means your thread is tangled. Totally rethread, then do this test, with the presser foot up pull the threads, it should pull smoothly, now put the presser foot down, pull the thread, it should barely move. This should seat your thread int eh tension discs.

I have the same problem but I believe the answer is to purchase a new shuttle which is the part the bobbin sits in and is most likely scratched or damaged. The quote I got was 40-50 dollars
