follow the cable down to the transmission box and see if it is still attached, if it is the cable will need tightening,halfway down the cable you will see a couple of adjusters,open these mate to tighten the cable up

Check that the drive belt is not damaged and tensioner works.

May be the transmission but they charge a small fortune for a new one. Go to lawnmower repair place and look for a junked unit with a good tranny. Replacement is not hard.

Ryobi RPT 2543c This is a 2 stroke engine, so no dipstick. You mix oil with the petrol (ratio 50:1) or 200ml of two stroke oil per litre of petrol, and that's how the engine is lubricated. Hope this helps, [email protected]

Got the new Ryobi RHT2660DA petrol hedge trimmer today. Have mixed fuel to instructions and followed every step to the letter. It starts fine, but keeps stopping when I excelerate it, any ideas?

It is running too lean on the mixture, if it was new return it for re tuning, it will be an easy fix which will only take a few minutes.

Hi Donna,

No, changing the spark plug is quick and easy. No need to go before the committee.

You will need some deep sockets and a ratchet (Plugs come in 5/8", 3/4" and 13/16").

They get HOT. So if it's been running, let it cool.

Pull the plug wire
Unscrew the old one.
Screw in the new one
plug in the wire

when the lawn mower suddenly stop working,first you should check the fuel. i think the Self-propelled device was broken. You can take the Self-propelled device off and try again with it.
