Erratic behavior of MS wireless optical mouse

I am using a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 connected through USB on to my Dell Latitude E6400 Notebook. The cursor of the mouse is erratic and keep jumping. So while typing it:
1) Automatically highlights / blocks a portion of the typed text, cuts it and types fresh text in its place; or
2) the cursor automatically jumps to another place and starts typing there.

Its very irritating. Any solutions?

Your wireless mouse the battery might be low, change the battery and go to control panel and click the mouse icon, and adjust the right mouse speed setting.

SOURCE: Hyper senitive & erratic mouse

reinstall the driver for the mouse and see if that fixes it.... also you can try going to control panel----mouse and the changing the settings... you may have to experiment abit to get it the way you want it.

My MS wireless notebook optical mouse 3000 was working fine, then I downloaded the IE 9 and now the clicking appears to be erratic; e.g. auto double clicking, other windows opening up without clicking on...

Check the battery in the mouse, go into device manager and locate the wireless mouse under human interface devices, Delete the device remove the usb sensor for the mouse, shut down the computer, power it back on, put the sensor back in and see if windows finds it reloads the drivers. Then check the operation.

Can I use a new MS wireless mouse to replace my existing MS wireless mouse. Currently my mouse and keyboard connect together on the same wireless USB device. Could the new mouse be detected and be used...

I suppose there is a reset button on the keyboard or the software provided so I suppose it could be possible, I don't know.
I use a Microsoft Wired Keyboard...
But Best of luck.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 not working

Most devices last a long time. Have you tried re-installing the software for the keyboard & Mouse> Also go to microsoft download center and get the latest drivers for you setup. Make sure when you do, choose the right Operating System driver for your Keyboard & Mouse. Hope this helps. Bud
