Troy Bilt self propelled walk behind...grass goes everywhere!!

Troy Bilt 370 self propelled walk behind mower. Hours old. 1st pass using grass catcher. Grass blowing everywhere. Checked grass bag and chute/door...no apparent issues. Mulch chute on side is on tight. Been on hold with TB 30 mins and counting. What am I missing? Is it just defective?

Mine works, great, take bag off and it will mulch it and look like it's being bagged up.Is your grass knee high?Do you have it low enough? Here's your manual, read the part on grass catcher and see if your doing something wrong, make sure grass door is open.Check your blade to make sure they didn't put it on upside down. The cut part should be facing out. http://pdf.lowes.com/operatingguides/043033566280_oper.pdf

I know this is a dumb question, but is the blade on upside down? This is common mistake to make, and is the blade properly balanced and sharp. I would definitely make sure of these items first. From the way you describe it, I can't think of anything else.

You should inspect the belt, this may mean that you have to remove a cover.

I'd check your blade and see if it needs sharpening. The mulching mowers need to cut then vacuum the grass up and then cut it again. They must be properly sharpened for this process to work properly.

My Troy-Bilt Self Propelled Lawnmower Wheel Not Turning on Grass

Hi,

Please pour some oil on the axel of the lawn mower wheel before attempting to use it on the grass again. If this fails again, it might be time to upgrade your lawnmower.

Thank you.

How does the govener and carb linkage work on a Troy-Bilt 2005 800 Series (839) self propelled mower

Have you changed springs? Likely the correct components are there unless you have changed it. Does it run properly and at correct rpm when not in tall grass? Check for proper throttle adjustment first. also check for obstructions (packed grass for instance) under the deck that could be impeding the blade. Lastly, if you have the discharge blocked with a mulch plug, remove the plug. let the tall grass discharge. then run over it again and mulch it.

Troy Bilt XP self propelled mower

Normally an indication of poor air flow. Replace air filter. Clean outside of carb with carb cleaned to ensure choke is free to operate. Go real slow in tall grass, some mowers don't have the torque to do tall grass, only use 1/2 of the deck width and have side discharge open.

Own a Troy Bilt self-propelled model #12A-466-M011 for a year now. It worked great when first got it. Now it will not clear the grass underneath so cuts off every 15 feet and have to manually clear grass...

I had the same problem with my Troy-Bilt self propelled lawn mower. You have to use the grass catcher if your grass is high. Also, I mowed wet grass and it made my belt slip off the pulley and created a new problem, somowing wet grass is definitely not a good idea.
