1 year old Kenmore Elite Trio Refridgerator not cooling

My Kenmore Elite Trio Bottom Freezer with in-door water dispenser started accumulating frost in the front of the freezer about 6 months after I purchased it. I later discovered the water seems to be leaking from the water dispensing area into the freezer. Now just after a year of use the freezer and refrigerator are not cooling. I'm livid. Any idea what this could be?

There are a lot of things that could be the source of the problem... is there no cooling at all going on in the freezer? Is the back wall of the freezer cold? It could be anything from a fan, to the compressor, to the control board... you need a technician.

I would get on the phone with Sears, and explain the continuing problems you have been having, and they may agree to cover service.

The tubing inside the door is most likely frozen. Mine did that a year ago. I had to remove gasket and loosen screws around edge and allow to defrost inside door. There was a lot of ice around dispenser and tubing.

Check for cracks in the water supply tube from the house plumbing valve to the ice maker. Could also be the valve itself.

Turn off valve for a day to diagnose which.

Frost buildup at back of bottom freezer department. Refrigerator should be frost free. Freezing impaired.

could be anumber of things happing, is the freezer fan spinning? if not ice will accumulate( also hamper cooling in the refrig section). perhaps a defrost issue, a bad heater or defrost thermostat could also cause, this/ may even just be the door being left open for extendedperiods of time( ie.. overnight, or hte gasket not sealing correctly) leading to a frost build up on rear panel

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.
