Audio files from music subscriptino services come in several formats - Mp3, WMA, AAC, and sometimes WAV. The Rhapsody trial is for a subscription level that gives you the songs in WMA format. They have a license system on them called DRM protection. That is the problem with services that give you WMA files - once your subscription has expired, you cannot use the songs anymore, no matter how much you paid for them.
Your solution is to subscribe to Rhapsody's Mp3 Only service - it is more expensive, but you can continue to use the songs after your subscription has expired. Rhapsody offers several subscriptions - the only one that will solve your problem is the Mp3 Only service. Cheaper alternatives are more risky (virus-prone), but they include Limewire, Frostwire, and Morpheus - beware: all 3 of these services offer songs in multiple file formats - make sure that the songs you download are in mp3 format. Some ISP's will cut off your internet service if you use Limewire.
Hi,
I'm not sure what's the subscription service to which you are subscribed. However I've given you the steps below. Try whatever suits for you.
This error typically occurs when the DRM licensed files have expired.
SOLUTION 1 - Songs ripped from an audio CD If the songs were ripped from a CD using Windows Media Player, modify the Rip Music settings.
SOLUTION 2 - Songs downloaded from music subscription service If the songs were downloaded from a music subscription service (e.g., Napster, Rhapsody, Best Buy music store, etc.), follow these steps: 1. Make sure that your account subscription is updated and active. 2. Put the device in MTP mode and connect to the computer, then log in to your music subscription account. 3. Renew the licenses of your tracks For Rhapsody: On the Rhapsody console, right-click on your device and select License
1. Check the date & time on your PC & on your mp3 player. They should be one and the same.
2. You need to synchronize your device with rhapsody once in every 30 days. It's a must. Failing to do so, you will not be able to play music in your mp3 player. Here are a few a steps to synchronize your device with rhapsody:
1.Open Rhapsody / Best Buy Digital Music Store and sign in
2.Connect your mp3 player to the computer
3.Go to My Account --> Update Track Licenses
4.Transfer a track to your device
5.Disconnect your device and enjoy music on the go!
3. Here is a link to get the Sansa Firmware updater to update the firmware for your device automatically: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
4. Click on this links if you are asked to synchronize your device with rhapsody?

SOLUTION 3 - Rename the Windows DRM folder
NOTE: The Windows DRM (Digital Rights Management) folder contains licenses for secure media files such as your subscription tracks.
STEP 1 - Edit the folder options of the PC to show the hidden files Windows XP: 1. Double-click My Computer. 2. On the Menu bar, click Tools > FolderOptions, and then click the View tab. 3. Under Hidden files and Folder, click to select Show hidden files and folders. 4. Under Hidden files and Folder, click to clear Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box. 5. Click Apply, and then OK.
Windows Vista: 1. Double-click Computer. 2. Click the Organize button at the upper left corner. 3. Click Folder and Search options. 4. Click the View tab and select Show hidden files and folders. 5. Click to clear the Hide protected operating system files check box. 6. Click Apply, and then OK.
STEP 2 - Rename the DRM folder 1. Double-click My Computer > C: > Documents and Settings > All Users. 2. Right-click the DRM folder and select Rename. 3. Rename this as OLDDRM. 4. Run the subscription service program you are using and renew the licenses to recreate the DRM folder with new licenses.
STEP 3 - Synchronize your device once more on MTP mode
SOLUTION 4 - Format the player under Windows Media Player.
Your getting that msg b/c some or all of the songs do not have "transfer rights" - that music service is bad, b/c you pay once for the subscription, and then have to pay again per track to be able to play the songs on your player.
I'm not sure if you're using a Sansa mp3 player or what, but you do not have to use Best Buy's music svc. You can use Napster To Go or a host of others. Bearshare is pretty nice.
There are 2 reason why you would get that error..
1) when you transferred the tracks to the device the licenses didnt transfer...
2) The tracks you transferred are subscription tracks meaning that you have to sync your device each month in order to have those tracks playing...
If you dont have a subscription for the tracks...(you will have to format your device in that case) and also you could have a device certificate problem which can solve by formatting your device or your DRM components maybe bad...you can solve that problem by foramtting updating the firmware on the device..
If you have a subscription you need to download a new track and transfer it to the device again...that should update the licenses for every single tracks...If that doesnt do it you will have to format your device...
I hope this helps...
Please rate accordingly
Thank you Computerrep
That means you will need to transfer one track to your device from rhapsody..the songs you have from rhapsody has a license in them...the licenses get renew every month..that means if you discontinue your service, you are not going to be able to play those songs...just try to transfer one track from rhapsody to your device and that will solve your problems...
