0-83 error on onkyo tx nr 555

The 0-83 error indicates a problem with the firmware update.

Try resetting the receiver's BIOS by following these steps2:
Unplug all cables
Un-Power the receiver
Power the receiver
Before the receiver gets into the "Enter for updating" message, press Tone + CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will show you either the volume numbers or get you into settings of the receiver's speaker configuration.

Press CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will clear the BIOS and show a "Clear" message on the display. Wait until you hear a couple of clicking sounds for the receiver to turn on and off the power.

THE REMOTE TO MY ONKYO TX NR656 HAS STOPPED WORKING. CHANGED BATTERIES 3 TIMES. ANY IDEAS?

Confirm that your remote is dead. If so, then get a new one.

Check out google - you can use an am radio or a digital camera to check for remote operation.

My onkyo tx-nr 616 suddenly stop working, error pls check sp-cable, what could be the reason.

Either voice coil to the speaker is shorted, or the audio output section circuit to your receiver has shorted component/s at it. Disconnect all the speakers from the set, and check whether it shows any warning error like this. If dhows, the fault is within the receiver itself. If does not show any error message, switch off the set, and connect the speakers; one by one at a time, and try to find out which one is faulty. Be remember to switch OFF the power to the receiver, each time when one speaker box is connected. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
