Kenmore Elite Trio 596.76529500 It makes a loud squeaking/buzzing noise for 10-30 seconds then stops. Repeats every 5-10 minutes. The compressor is not turning on and the freezer & Refrig. warmed up. By the time the tech came out to look at it, the unit started working just fine. The tech tested every thing as OK. One month later, the saem thing is happening. I tried to resist unplugging it, but I couldn't take the noise and thought that something else might break so I unplugged it, over night. Of course, when i plugged it back in it started working again.
Is it the compressor? What could it be.
It is the Freezer Fan, he ice maker fan. I experienced the same conditions of a two year period. The tech allows said either unplug overnight. I as you couldn't take the noise. Oh by the way it will be getting worse!!! The solution replace the Freezer Fan motor.it cost about $78.00 plus shipping. they are located behind the freezer rear wall. They are very labor intensive to replace because the electrical leads are attached just out of reach. I have a 33" arm and I had to act like a contortionist to unplug them.

This helps a lot. The tech will be out on Monday, I will see if I can get him to replace the freezer fan motor eventhough I'm sure it will be working "just fine" when he is here.
