My Yamaha petrol buggy engine will not stop when I stop the cart. It will stop the engine with a little rave on the accelerator

Solenoid. (electro-magnetically operated switch)

What are the symptoms of a bad solenoid in a golf cart? On an electric golf cart, the most common symptom is the solenoid is not delivering electricity to the controller when the vehicle's ignition is turned on. In normal operating conditions, the solenoid clicks on and off with the ignition switch. A failing solenoid will generally not click.

Locked break likely

Check the engine stop relay is functioning. Depressing the accelerator engergizes the engine stop relay which opens the magneto (ignition module) kill shunt thereby allowing spark. This also energizes the motor generator thus spinning the engine in the selected direction. Further depressing the accelerator opens the carburetor to the point where fuel is allowed, engine accelerates and drives cart.
Could still be a fuel issue.

Sounds like pre-ignition knock. Not familiar with these engines, but be sure to use the recommended fuel.

Check your piston or you can change piston .

On my buggy there is a lable behind the drivers seat (lift the seat)indicating the model and year of manufacture

Resister coil pack....Look up Buggies Gone Wild. Tons of info.

Engine got to much oil in it? Worn engine allowing fuel down into engine diluting the oil and raising the oil level? Blocked engine breather, pressurising the crankcase. Oil change and clean the breather. Worth a try
