All repairs began after it was running then died after turning 90 degrees to edge. Any additional tips to get this thing running?
Jerry, I have two of the s430 Ryobis. I bought a second because the first wouldn't start. I replaced the carburetor, fuel filter/line, spark plug, ignition coil, and reset the rocker arms and still wouldn't start. I finally pulled parts off the new one until I found my culprit. The Heat Dam between the carb and engine was cracked but you can't tell until you remove it. It fell apart when I removed it from the engine. Put a new one on and it started right up. Hope that helps... the heat dam was my culprit...
Make sure that all of your fuel lines are good with no leaks and cracks. Ditto for primer bulb. If all ok, then you need to clean out carb, or get a kit for it.
SOURCE: doesn't start has spark @ plug fuel @
try starting meaning pull the rope 6 times and then check the spark plug if its wet clean it or try a new plug, if its dry your not getting fuel in the cylinder which means carb problems. if you have a seringe or something to put some gas into the spark plug hole then install spark plug and try it. if it runs for a couple of seconds then you need to focus on the carb. only put a small amount of fuel in the plug hole if you try it otherwise youll be pulling on the rope for awhile before it will start. hope this helps.
SOURCE: Ryobi gas blower tuff starting and bogs down, and dies
take the muffle off and run it if ok open the muffler a bur off the screen inside with a tourch
SOURCE: Carburetor removal
remove bottom of carburetor. Remove the float. Clean the flow valve very well. gas should flow again.
SOURCE: Chainsaw stops running
When it starts to die slacken off the fuel cap enough to allow air into the tank, if it picks up again it is an issue with the fuel tank breather, if the breather is blocked it will create a vacume in the tank and stop fuel flow to the carb.
SOURCE: engine starts and runs but in 10 minutes engine stops and will not restart
VENTING: Open the fuel cap a bit and see if that solves the problem. Many times the Fuel tank Vent will clog . This creates a vacuum as the engine tries to s.uc.k in gas. If the mower runs.. then you need to find a way to clear the Vent ( usually in the cap).

Anyone know the official torque to apply to the bolts holding the heat dam to the engine and the bolts holding the carb to the heat dam? I must be tightening it too much...
