I have replaced spark plug, gasolines w/fuel filter, and carburetor but ryobi s430 still won't start.

All repairs began after it was running then died after turning 90 degrees to edge. Any additional tips to get this thing running?

Jerry, I have two of the s430 Ryobis. I bought a second because the first wouldn't start. I replaced the carburetor, fuel filter/line, spark plug, ignition coil, and reset the rocker arms and still wouldn't start. I finally pulled parts off the new one until I found my culprit. The Heat Dam between the carb and engine was cracked but you can't tell until you remove it. It fell apart when I removed it from the engine. Put a new one on and it started right up. Hope that helps... the heat dam was my culprit...

Anyone know the official torque to apply to the bolts holding the heat dam to the engine and the bolts holding the carb to the heat dam? I must be tightening it too much...

Make sure that all of your fuel lines are good with no leaks and cracks. Ditto for primer bulb. If all ok, then you need to clean out carb, or get a kit for it.

SOURCE: doesn't start has spark @ plug fuel @

try starting meaning pull the rope 6 times and then check the spark plug if its wet clean it or try a new plug, if its dry your not getting fuel in the cylinder which means carb problems. if you have a seringe or something to put some gas into the spark plug hole then install spark plug and try it. if it runs for a couple of seconds then you need to focus on the carb. only put a small amount of fuel in the plug hole if you try it otherwise youll be pulling on the rope for awhile before it will start. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Chainsaw stops running

When it starts to die slacken off the fuel cap enough to allow air into the tank, if it picks up again it is an issue with the fuel tank breather, if the breather is blocked it will create a vacume in the tank and stop fuel flow to the carb.

SOURCE: engine starts and runs but in 10 minutes engine stops and will not restart

VENTING: Open the fuel cap a bit and see if that solves the problem. Many times the Fuel tank Vent will clog . This creates a vacuum as the engine tries to s.uc.k in gas. If the mower runs.. then you need to find a way to clear the Vent ( usually in the cap).

My troy built pony will not stay goning

If your Troy-Bilt Pony riding lawn mower is having trouble staying running, there are a few things you can check:
  1. Fuel: Make sure the fuel tank is full and that there is fresh, clean gasoline in the tank. If the gasoline is old or contaminated, it can cause the engine to stall or run poorly.
  2. Air filter: Check the air filter and clean or replace it if it is dirty or clogged. A dirty air filter can restrict air flow to the engine, causing it to run poorly or stall.
  3. Spark plug: Inspect the spark plug and replace it if it is worn or fouled. A worn or fouled spark plug can cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.
  4. Carburetor: Check the carburetor and clean it if it is dirty or clogged. A dirty or clogged carburetor can prevent the engine from getting the proper fuel and air mixture, causing it to stall or run poorly.
  5. Fuel lines: Check the fuel lines and make sure they are clear and free of debris. A clogged fuel line can prevent the engine from getting the proper fuel, causing it to stall or run poorly.
If none of these solutions work, it may be best to take your mower to a professional for further diagnosis and repair.

My ryobi x430 will not start. Replace spark plug and still won't start

hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vaccum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evoporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replaceing gaskets or fuel line if necessory.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where thay want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow untail machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding aginst engine to chech spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, 11

Ran last year, won't start this year. Changed fuel and replaced spark plug. Checked spark and attempted to start with battery and tried with pull cord but no start. pulled plug and it had fuel on it so...

It might have tipped over on its side. Look at the air filter, if you see oil or gas on the filter then you might have to remove and clean the carburetor. I would start by cleaning/replacing the air filter and trying it again. If its getting fuel and the spark plug works then the only other side of the fire triangle is air.

My ryobi s430 starts well but has lost power. I read about cleaning the spart arrester, running wood in the muffler hole. I have changed the spark plug. the weedeater/brush cutter is 2 years old

Common problem is the fuel pump. It is a small diaphragm in the carburetor. The diaphragm deteriorates, especially with the alcohol in the gas now. You might rebuild the carb. The kits are about $20. Other problems include clogged fuel tank vent, clogged fuel filter (on the end of fuel finder hose in the tank, and clogged fuel jets which is less common.

Bought unit new last summer. Used it once last summer and once this year. It started fine both times. Today, it will not crank. I have replaced the spark plug, checked the air filter (it is clean), gas...

Unable to crank? Do you mean unable to start?

If you leave gasoline inside tank over long period of time, that will 'gum-up' and ruin carburetor.
To prevent problem, put additive in gasoline or empty gas from tank:: under gas tank should be a hex bolt that holds up gas filter > loosen bolt and drain gas.

Starting the engine:
Take off air filter and spray WD-40 directly into carburetor.
Start engine, engine should fire on the WD-40 accelerant.
If engine fires but does not keep running, try spraying WD-40 into carburetor continuously to see if you can keep engine going.
If engine stops each time after it no longer gets WD-40, then carburetor is bad or gasoline not getting to carburetor or gasoline is bad.
Try fresh gasoline.
Do not turn small engine on side or upside down or oil will get into carburetor.

Check gas supply: Go to gas filter under gas tank. Pull loose rubber hose that connects to carburetor and see if gas comes out rubber hose.
If gas is flowing to carburetor, then carburetor is gummed up.
Small engine repair might suggest 'gum out' or have other suggestions ... but you may need a new carburetor

If engine will not fire on WD-40
If engine will not fire on WD-40 at all, then spark coil may be bad or exhaust port is clogged
Check screen that covers exhaust >> is it covered with carbon and dirt or can air pass through it easily?
Check spark
Remove spark plug
Put spark wire back on spark plug
Hold spark plug by rubber spark cap so hands don't touch metal part of spark plug
Touch spark plug threads against hole where spark plug was removed >>> metal to metal so it conducts electricity
Pull start cord and look for sparking between spark plug threads and metal of engine (don't look at the spark gap ... look where metal meets metal
If you have no spark, the spark coil is bad >> time for estimate from small engine repair shop or get your part number and order replacement

My Gas Powered Ryobi String Trimmer (RY26500B) won't start. What should I try??

Here are the basics. You need: spark, fuel, air, compression, and timing to make it run. Clean the spark plug. Inspect the fuel lines. Are the hard/brittle? Do they connect to the filter in the gas tank? Clean the air filter. When the spark plug is out, put your finger over the opening and gently pull the rope. Do you have compression?
Most common repairs needed are usually fuel lines and carburetor work.
