Unhook all the connections to it one at a time and test it after each item is removed. So unhook LF Speaker and try it , then the RF speaker, see if you can locate the one that is causing this. If you get everything unhooked and it still says protection, there is a part failure inside the amp.
I have disconnected all wires from the back of player, and it still turns off and says "s-protection". If I unplug it and plug it back in, it will work for about 30 seconds then goes off. Would that mean there is a short inside the unit itself?
I would be very pleased if my LG WASHING MACHINE could show pictures ;-0)

Sir avservice, I have also posted a problem about an HT502 DVD receiver + Home Theater. The sound won't come out of the speakers but only of the Plasma tv. But was working before. And the word "PROTECTION" is appearing on the display screen of the dvd receiver. But good quality picture on the plasma tv. Please help
check to see you have the cables required by the tv. usually you need hdmi or dvid for hd display. digital rights management protocols have resulted in chips in playing devices that allow only the use of the referenced cables to protect content from being copied. in some sets they default to not playing in hd, but still play something. look there first, otherwise you may have an input source mismatch. follow instructions on the dvd player first, then make sure the tv has compatible settings. if that does not solve, you have a service issue with one or both. good luck mark
