If you have verified that the light bulb or lamp is not defective, then you should next inspect the socket. Look for discolored terminals or heat damaged sockets that may prevent good connectivity to the light bulb or lamp. This is a live voltage circuit and power should be removed before close inspection of the socket. The interior light of your refrigerator is controlled by a switch that is activated when the door is opened and closed. If this switch malfunctions the light might not turn on consistently, if at all. The location of the switch varies depending on the model of your refrigerator, but it is usually located somewhere near the top of the door opening. The switch is often mounted into the interior plastic liner and care should be taken when removing it to prevent damage to the liner. The switch will be spring loaded and is a normally closed type of switch which means that there should be no continuity when the button is depressed and continuity through the switch when the button is not depressed. These checks can be made with a multi-meter with power removed from the appliance. If your model has an ice and water dispenser with a light bulb you should first verify that the bulb is good. These lights are normally low wattage and are not designed to be used as night lights. Extended periods of usage will typically cause premature failure of the bulb or damage to the socket. Most models will have an on/off switch on the control panel and that may be defective. You can check the switch for continuity with a multi-meter. The lamp or bulb socket may also be defective and the control plate will need to be removed for inspection. These checks will require that you remove power from the appliance first.

Dryer doesnt stop when I open the door

Switch for the door is sticking or bad. It is usually the same switch that turns the light on when the door is opened. I just checked mine, it was sticking a little. I pushed it in as far as possible and sprayed a tiny amount of WD-40. Pushed in and out several times. No more stick. A very light oil might work also. Otherwise you have a bad switch.

Interior lights will not go off

The interior lights are controlled by 2 fuses (accessory fuses , 1 in the kick panel under the dash and the other in the fuse box under the hood) , by door and trunk switches (located in the corner of the doors, (it depressed when a door is open) as well as a switch in the hood. try the following steps in the proceeding order

1.) try changing the hood light switch to off , there should be 3 settings (door, off, on) switch it to off , if its set to on it will remain on.

If the above fails chances are one of the door switch is shorting,

2.) open each door , 1 at a time , locate the switch the door pushes, Its on the car body and when the door closes it pushes in the switch. press each switch 1 at a time to find the shorting switch. once found , check that the door is closing properly and adjust toe lock by turning the screws and sliding it in until it works properly.

If the above fails chances are you have an electrical harness failure.

3.) pop the hood, locate the fuse box, locate the acc / accessory fues by using the diagram on the fuse box cover. remove the fuse. This will turn off all the accessory electrical so it wont drain your battery. Get the vehicle to a garage as soon as you could. Alternatively you can remove the fuse from the kickpanel under the dash. (here is a diagram on the cover).

In the unlikely case you cant locate the fuse, remove the negative battery pole, This will turn off all car electrical so your battery wont drain giving you enough time to get to a garage. Chances are it involves harness rewiring / relay failure which will need tracing and replacing and should always be done by a professional. Your vehicle is controlled by a computer and if the wires are shorted this can damage the cars cpu which will cost a lot to repair. So follow the above advice and if steps 1 and 2 fail will 3 is the best choice for you as well as a local garage.

The lights will not turn off.

Carol, Would you please send me the model number for yor bottom Freezer made for Sears and sold as a Kenmore? Many refrigerator are mad by the same company but sears uses a model number system that needs to be decoded to find the OEM parts. This refrigerator has been the type I have had no one been able to tell me the model number. I have even called Sears and asked! An example for a refrigerator from Sears would look like this 513.265989 for example only. I will try to find their model locator's and send you a photo of it. The problem you are having is serious and indicates a short circuit that needs to be addressed to Sears. If the lights stay on while the door is closed it will cause the refrigerator to run all the time and confuse the thermostat in to thinking the temperature is too warm. I have always hated those small print warranty contracts. They are always designed to make you believe you have good protection while it takes an Attorney to tell you the truth. Let me know what you find, Thanks Sea Breeze

The circuit breaker trips when I open the refrigirator even when the ref switch is off

There must be a short in the internal lighting circuit which have one functional component, the switch. It is usually a white push-button inside the refrigerator near the door. The door pushes the switch when it is closed turning the light off. When the door is opened, the button pops back out to turn on the light. In your case, when you open the door you are switching on the light but the circuit breaker trips off. It means the short circuit is in the light wiring and nothing else. Retrace the wiring and you'll surely find it there. Rewire and have a good day.

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Fridge turns on and off and beeps

You need a tech to check the problem, it seems to be some kind of electrical short or, if the fridge has an electronic control module, it may be the source of the proble.

Short in freezer?

IF THE WIRES SHORTED, AND THE DOOR WAS REPLACED,
WAS IT COMPLETE OR WAS THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY TRANSFERRED TO THE NEW DOOR? IF THE ASSEMBLY ISN'T NEW, THE CONTROL BOARD IN THE ASSEMBLY MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED FROM THE WIRE SHORT.

Fridg not cold

your story is very odd but likely nobody is messing with the door switch hwen you moved , or the wires could have shorted out. normally, the door switch, when you open a door would switch on a cabinet light and turn off the blower. in your case, its the reverse, as you open a door, the blower runs and if you close the door, the blower stops. im not sure if you can figure out which pair is the normally close and which one is the normally open on the door switch in order to swap them or you may rplace the door switch.
