First, get a flashlight and check inside printer for anything in the way of the ink carriage unit.
If nothing is there, then try removing the ink cartridges and see if the problem goes away, If it does, one of the cartridges needs replacement.

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA iP90v Service error 5100

Error 5100 is mostly because of some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip.
There is the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) which was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display)

Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corrosponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on).

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

My Canon PIXMA MX494 is giving error code B204. That is the problem, what more do you want me to say?

Try removing ink cartridges, If the problem goes away, then one of the ink cartridges needs to be replaced. Hope that helps.

My canon pixma mx494 says err2110 load appropiate paper but it was working fine

A glitch may have altered your paper settings. Go into Setup/Device Settings/Cassette settings/Paper to make sure the settings are correct. If you still have a problem, you can override the error message. See the Canon support link below. https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART161687

Where to find wps pin on canon mx494 printer

Hi Mbali, PIXMA MX494 Wireless Connection SetupSome access points (sometimes referred to as routers or hubs) feature an automatic connection button labelled "WPS" which stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup. This allows permitted devices such as your PIXMA MX494 to connect to your network without needing to enter a password and it enables a quick and easy method of connecting your devices. This method is by far the easiest way of connecting your PIXMA MX494 so if your access point has a WPS button please select the 'WPS Connection Method' tab below for instructions on connecting using this method. If your router does not support WPS we have provided alternative instructions to get your PIXMA MX494 connected so please select the 'Standard Connection Method' tab below.Back to topWPS Connection Method Standard Connection Method Restore to Factory SettingWPS Connection Method Before we start, there are some conditions that must be met in order to use the WPS push button method:The access point must have a physical WPS push button available. Please check with your device's user guide for details. If the WPS push button is not available please use the instructions on the Standard Connection Method tab.Your network must be using the WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) or WPA2 security protocol. Most WPS enabled access points use this protocol.Press the [Setup] button (B) on the printer. Use the arrow buttons (C) to select [Device settings] and press the [OK] button. Use the arrow buttons (C) to select [Wireless LAN setup] and press the [OK] button. The printer will now automatically search for access points supporting the WPS feature. The following message will be displayed on the printer's screen "Press WPS button of the wireless router about 5 sec. and press [OK] on this printer" Press and hold the [WPS] button on your access point for approximately 5 seconds, then release. For exact instructions on starting WPS on your access point, please refer to its user guide. Press the [OK] button on the printer within 2 minutes. Once connected, the following screen will appear. Press the [OK] button to complete the setup.

I have a cannon pixma mp 500 printer and I and getting a error code 5010 how can I fix this issue? Thank You

unfortuantely according to canon website, if turning it off/on doesn't clear the error then it will require a "repair service". Doesn't acutally say what the problem is I'm afraid.

good luck

Canon MP830 geting error 6500

The error indicates a service error code with your printer, typically caused due to internal error in one of the ASIC chips on the logic board of your printer, and may only be repaired by replacing the logic board at an authorized Canon service center, and should be done for free if your printer is still under warranty.

When i turn the printer on it tells me error code 5c00

Hi andrew_webb0,

The error code 5C00 means the purge unit is broken. To fix this, you have to bring the printer to a Canon service center and need to replace it with new one.

Hope this helps.

I have a canon pixma mp145 and have error 23..how can i solve this problem???thanks..

The manual does not specify exactly what error E23 means, but tells you what you should do.

Turn the machine off, and remove the power plug from the outlet. About ten minutes later, plug it in again, and turn the machine on. If the problem is not resolved, the machine may require servicing. Please contact your local Service Center.

You can read more about the error codes on Canon website: http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/8000137001.html

What is e 27 and e 8??

Those two are error codes, and they mean the following:

E8 - The waste ink absorber is almost full. Press the OK button to clear the error.
Printing can be done until the waste ink absorber becomes full. If the waste ink absorber becomes full, please contact your local Service Center for replacement of the absorber and machine maintenance.
The waste ink absorber is a part inside the machine, which absorbs ink used in the cleaning operations, etc.

E27 - Manual does not specify what this means, but tells you what you should do: Turn the machine off, and remove the power plug from the outlet. About ten minutes later, plug it in again, and turn the machine on. If the problem is not resolved, the machine may require servicing. Please contact your local Service Center.
You can read more about the error codes on Canon website.
