Military benefits? My dad and I were wondering if there are any potential military family benefits since my grandpa served in the marines during World War 2, sadly he's no longer with us and we are unaware if there are any benefits we are eligible for

there is no "law" against civilians rendering a hand salute. some already do,i.e. Boy and Girl Scouts, Police, Firefighters.
The typical or recommended salutes are guidance written into the flag code which describes flag etiquette. just as there is no law that says the flag shall never touch the ground, it is etiquette and respect that guides us.
if you are in the active reserve and drill one weekend a month and two weeks a year then you will earn pay for the drill period.
If you are in the Inactive or Ready Reserve you will get no pay.
