I was reading an article on fox news that said "military members barred from presidential politics" I guess I was not aware that joining the service means you give up your citizenship altogether, this is sad!
However, there are American territories such as Guam which have members in the military and the restrictions in the past have been different for such. It is because electors for the Electoral college come from States. Territories are not states and thus do do send Electors. Thus, their votes only express preferences but do not affect the Electorial total used to determine the president.
Certainly not. in fact servicemembers can get absentee ballots from their state.
however they are banned from political campaign activities and
must abstain from "any active part" in political campaigns in accordance with the Hatch Act.
