The Humidfier Tray in my Rinnai heater is enamel - can I put vinegar in it to clean it from calcium build up?

Hi,

isolated calcium should have a 2+ charge at the atomic level. So what every you use has to have a negative charge to have the best chance at removing the calcium. These means you need a base of some sort, so you might consider cleaning with baking soda or potentially olive oil. Please reference a period table to find more negatively charged elements (should be on right side of the table).

Thank you.

Is milk bad for you by causing osteoperousis

Osteoporosis is a weakening of the bones as they lose calcium and other minerals with age or affliciton. Milk, which is high in calcium, will not strip the minerals from your bones and, therefore if consumed in moderation throughout your life milk is not bad for you in that regard. However, calcium is an essential nutrient for body / muscle function and regular intake of foods or supplements providing calcium so that the body does not need to strip that calcium from the bones appears more important.
From hsp.Harvard.edu
"Adequate, lifelong dietary calcium intake is necessary to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Consuming adequate calcium and vitamin D and performing regular, weight-bearing exercise are also important to build maximum bone density and strength. After age 30, these factors help slow bone loss, although they cannot completely prevent bone loss due to aging.
Milk and dairy products are a convenient source of calcium for many people. They are also a good source of protein and are fortified with vitamins D and A. At this time, however, the optimal intake of calcium is not clear, nor is the optimal source or sources of calcium."

I pushed the button down to start the jets and it got stuck all the way down and won't come up

When an air button does not come up after being pressed down it is a classic sign that the button needs to be changed. This happens when one of a couple things happen:
  1. The bellows in the air button have broken and therefor cannot push the button back up.
  2. There is calcium built up on the inside of the button
  3. You can clean up the calcium deposits with emery cloth

Are there different types of calcium supplements?

Yes. There are actually two different forms of calcium supplement: calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate is the cheaper one of the two and should be taken with food. Calcium citrate can be taken on an empty stomach and is absorbed well for people who have low levels of stomach acid.

Calcium build up removal????? Our water has a lot of calcium. Lately, my dishes are not getting cleaned and it appears there is a lot of calcium built up. What is the best way to remove it?

add dishwasher salt if you live in a hard-water area to prevent calcium build up, and try adding a litre of pure lemon juice to remove the initial crusting, as the calcium is highly alkaline, and the lemon juice, being acidic, neutralises it.
