Hello, I have a GE fridge PN: PSS29GMD. My fridge was always sitting around 30 degrees and I eventually discovered that the damper in my fridge had broken such that the flap was not able to close between the fridge and freezer. I ordered a new damper assembly thinking this would fix all my problems but upon replacing the damper my fridge is still way too cold. I'm wondering if something else could have been damaged in the time that expired between my damper breaking and my changing out the damper assembly?
Is the damper actually moving?
How could I check that? Since the damper is enclosed i can't see if it is actually moving when it is installed.
Change the temperature setting and watch the door to see that it moves to increase or decrease airflow from the Freezer
So I took apart the assembly and I changed the temperature but the door never opened or closed. The door was closed at this time, though and the temp in my fridge was shown to be 29 so the door should have been closed. I then unplugged the fridge and after a minute plugged it back in and the temperature of the fridge updated to 45 degrees and the door on the damper assembly opened up. It appears as if the temperature on the display doesn't update very often. How often should the temperature update? Does it only update when the fridge door is closed?
Judging by the symptoms and the test you may have issueswith the fridge ttemperature sensor. I don't know how often the temperature updates, sorry have been adked that.
