Dcs oven display dim - need part #

I have a DCS double oven (model #WOS-230-SS). The Vacuum Flourescent Display has dimmed & needs to be replaced. However, calls to DCS (Fisher & Paykel) have resulted in conflicting advice for the part. First, I was told to order Part #211696 "Electronic Oven Control, Double" for $87.07. A different rep said to order part #239889 "Kit, Control Sys, WOS-230BK/SS" (changed from part #219135) for $257.01.

Without a consistent answer form DCS, I don;t know which part to get. Can anyone advise the exact part number?
Thanks.

Since noone responded to my question, I took a shot at repair with the cheaper part - complete success! The install was a breeze (but I did wear a grounding wrist strap to avoid frying the part with a static electricity shock).

How do you access/remove the display panel? Do you have to pull entire oven out of cabinet?

I just did this same repair...same part number as above (Part #211696 "Electronic Oven Control, Double).
to install you have to remove two screws on the top of the display section of the oven, as well as several screws on the bottom of it, and the screws holding the close pin/temperature probe socket.
Then you can pull off the whole top section (slowly) and remove the two connectors to the existing control unit.
Then release the ribbon cable connected to the control unit on the inside of the top section (press the two small pins inward and slide up the small front section of the black socket to release the ribbon connector.
Unscrew the old control panel, screw in the new one, connect the ribbon, and then reverse removal steps. Easy!

Thanks Folks... saved me some $$$ on my DCS-WO-227BK !
Part ordered direct cost $87 vs. part ($140) + labor ($125) from service agency.
Turn off power (50 amp circuit switch in electical panel), removed some screws and replaced part #211696 (DCS EOC DOUBLE DSP) as outlined by duder999.

There are alot of companies out there that will rebuild your clock assy. or computer board same thing for alot cheaper than buying a new clock assy. you call them,to get form or whatever they need, you remove the clock assy. make a diagram and take a few pictures so you put the wires back correctly, mail it to them, and they rebuild it and send it back to you,if you google who rebuilds oven clocks it will pop up and you might find someone close to you but it doesn't really matter they ship it back to your house, here's one i just googled
http://www.generaltimerepairs.com/product.php
if you can'y get a clock assy. for you stove or oven because it's to old or the display is fading have it rebuilt.hope this helps someone out.

I have replaced the display (Part No. 211708) three times on two ovens (Model No. WO-127). duder999 correctly describes the replacement process. I would add that you must be carful not to accidently damage the repaired display - buy an anti-static wristband and follow the instructions for use. You must first call Fisher & Paykel (949-790-8900 OR 888-936-7872) to receive a pre-paid Fed Ex return label to return the EOC display to the company for repair because replacement parts are no longer available. Current cost is $125.

The above solutions are not possible. Apparently, the part is no longer available. I have been told that the only fix is to have my part re-built.

Hi - I called F & P directly as advised elsewhere on this post - they were very helpful. It is true that they are low on stock. However, they send you an email with a shipping label in it, and you ship them your part, and max soon as they receive it they ship you a re-manufactured part. The rep said it takes about four days. Sears Parts Direct website says you can't order the part, and must be done via service call, however I just called their order line and ordered it. $155. F&P quoted $115. I paid the $40 so I wouldn't be o

Oops - hit return too early...so I wouldn't be without an oven for a week. Also asked if I can send in my old part to be fixed and have it returned to me - rep responded there was no charge for that although I haven't tested it yet. Will re-post on that experience. The installation really was easy - I have the WOSD-230-SS-PH Double oven and am embarrassed to tell anyone how long we have been operating the oven without being able to see anything about the temp, etc - this was so easy to do. Really. A couple of tips based on duder999's post: did not have to remove the "screws holding the close pin/temperature probe socket", just the two top and five bottom screws. The connectors referenced are the electrical connectors, and we took a pic before we disconnected in case the orientation of the black and red wires mattered. 2) we were surprised at how the ribbon cable released...probably because we are used to working with computer hard drives and such. The ribbon strip itself releases from the black plastic assembly, vs the black plastic assembly with the two pins releasing from the board. 3) the order really matters if you want to make it easy on yourself...after you disconnect the two connectors, you can place the who,e front on your counter, then release the ribbon cable, then unscrew the four screws holding the EOC board in the display. Aaahhhh...a beautiful bright display once again. Thanks so much to all who posted on this issue - would never have figured this out on our wn!

Also, lift the display panel out by rotating the bottom out first then lifting up, replace top first and rotate Dow. - watch that the small connector wires don't get caught and pinched or squeezed in between the panel and where it a,idea into the oven frame

January 2018, I wanted to provide an update to the many existing updates. There are no replacement parts available. As mentioned, y0u'll need to send your board in to have it refurbed. You can call Fisher & Paykel but it's really worthless. They're going to refer you to a company called PartSimple. Then, when you call those guys they'll tell you that you have to place your order via their website. This company has it down! You'll go to partsimple.com. Enter the part number 211696 and hit search. The total cost with shipping was $187 and I got the part back with maybe five days. It was quick. Two additional points: the model number of the stove can be found on a black sticker on the oven around the edge where the door closes. The other point is about the comment regarding the ribbon. It's correct that the black piece does not remove from the board. You'll see a small clip on each side. Push those in and pull up on the black piece. The black piece itself separates about 1/10" which then releases the ribbon. I hope that helps.

The infomation given for replacing the display was very helpfull. I have a single oven that is a little diferent than the twin. There is 3 plugs to remove. To remove the ribben connector you must bend away the connectoe from the ribben. To do this you will find two little tabs which will open the connector. You will find 2 screws on top of the panel and two on the bottom. You will find 5 screws that holds the pannel to the oven. You must remove them. The part No for the single oven is #211708 (DCS EOC SINGLE DSP. The price was 113.70 which includes shipping and tax.

Hi, thanks for this. I received part 211708 from Fisher Paykel for WO-130SS (single oven). I have not started the repair yet. Is the process to remove the front panel (2 screws on top and 2 on bottom), and internally there are 5 more screws to remove? I'd appreciate if you will clarify the removal & installation instructions. Thanks!

I just want to add to others in my thanks for this fix. There was some confusion over the summer as to the availability of this part (as communicated through an authorized service provider). However, I contacted F&P directly, got the part within days, and fixed it myself. Just a minor issue - initially the display wasn't right - and I went back and unseated then reseated the ribbon cable and it worked.

My DCS 27" double oven just dimmed for the second time in 9 years. When I called Fisher/Paykel, I was told the part had been discontinued and I needed to purchase the entire unit to the tune of $325. I find that outrageous.

  • Anonymous Oct 02, 2012

Fisher Paykel have part 211708 (LCD Display) now. I just received it within a few days. It ships from SoCal. Cost was <$100 incl shipping.

  • SF Gal Nov 02, 2012

Thanks, Tim. I am contacting Fisher/Paykal right now and apparently can order it, but am being told it is on back order.

DCS elect wall oven LCD display

Had the same display issue with my DCS WOS-230. The display was fading and made it very hard to read clock and temp setting. Called DCS/Fisher Paykal and was told I need the Control system kit for $335.00 to fix the issue. After reading the input on this issue on this site I pushed them to sell me just the DCS EOC 211696 double display module 100-01095-00. Install took 10 minutes and everything works great. Thanks all for laying the groundwork as DCS will really push hard to sell you the more expensive kit that you do not need.

Dim LCD's on DCS Double Wall Oven

Had the same problem last week - called DCS (which automatically transferred me to Fischer-Paykel) and was able to order the part from them.  They knew exactly what it was, and shipped to me in CA from CA, it was less than $90.  Just installed it, and the new one works swell.  One suggestion - I drew with a Sharpie on one side of each of the three parts that plug into the board to help align the new one, and to install the wide ribbon cable (not really a cable, but you'll know what I mean), pull up on the two side pieces and the ribbon pulls right out.  Keep it up and slide the new one in and then push the black piece down.  That was the only part that took me a minute to figure out.
