If it's the same as the one we have (which is similar to the pic posted on yours) there's a plastic piece on the top and bottom of the handle that you have to pry up (gently) to get to them.
It looks like a line that runs horizontal across the handle, but it should come up with a little force (meaning it shouldn't require tools). You have to pry it from the side, not the top or bottom.

Let it thaw, just like you're doing. Afterward, the door will open. You might be able to speed the process with hot water and a turkey baster. Beginning at the top of the door, take the business end of the baster and stick it between the door gasket and frame and squeeze. 'Course this will make a mess, but you won't lose the food that's in the freezer, right?
Write back and let me know what you find when you get the door open. Like was there a slab of ice on the freezer floor? Frost build up on the wall? Stuff like that. It'll help me figure out what caused this.
Another thing, when you write back, include the model number and manufacturer number (These are listed on a sticker inside the fridge). With those numbers, I can look up a door handle for you.

u could always set the handle in place where it needs to be and use caulk or super glue to go around the handle and that should help it stay in place if that doesnt work the website www.amana.com to see if it has warranty for the broken handle good luck

It sounds like you are hearing the overload on the compressor closing. When the overload closes the relay tries to start the compressor (that might be the buzzing sound) and if the compressor doesn't start the overload opens and turns the compressor off. You will need to replace the relay on the compressor.
