go into your menu and access the closed caption modes. someone has accidently put your tv in the "text" mode. turning off the closed caption feature will correct this.
unplug the set for a while , but this problem will return because of a malfunction in the EPROM CHIP , this controls the menu and a few other functions
this tv does not have 2 tuners. So you will be unable to get 2 different channels on one screen. I have the same tv. The PIP is only good for watching a dvd/video and tv swapping only.
my tv was working fine. somebody hit the menu button on the tv or the remote and i get the black box appearing in the middle of the screen. and also the pip is staying on my tv it keeps showing "a snowy picture of pip sjpwomg channels 2 through 18 i cannot figure out how to get this off of my screen.
Go into your customer menu to closed caption and turn off the "text" mode... What you're seeing is a text box from closed caption but unless you have that additional service it will just me a black square...

Watching two separate tv channels at the same
time requires two tv channel sources,i.e. a split
of some kind. For instance, the cable coming in thru the wall is split-half to tv or vcr/dvd combo
and then to tv,the other half to cable box, then out to tv.If what I described fails, then you may have an actual tv failure.PIP video is generally a separate circuit from standard video. An expert tech w/service literature should be able to help.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
You have CC (closed captioning) turned on and it is set to text mode.....Go to the menu on the remote use the right arrow and hilight "C.CAPT",use the down arrow to highlight "C.CAPT",use the right arrow and highlight "off" then exit button on remote.
Sounds like the PIP feature is causing the problem with the TV if you are connected directly to cable TV without a box inline and getting these issues.
