Some might say to splice the cable around the cut, but I'm not one of them. If the power wire comes from the inside of the TV then you can usually open up the back of the TV and replace the wire with a little soldering. Make sure the wire you use is properly rated for a standard house appliances. This tv has a faulty connection to the temp sensor that sits behind the lamp. You can purchase a improved one from Mits or get it repaired, or do it yourself. You will need to pull off the back and remove the lamp and the fan airduct to the right (3 screws i think) and you can get access to the sensor. It is held in with a screw that points toward the back of the tv and the sensor sits on the other side of the metal from the lamp. The connector to this sensor is faulty, so you can pull it out and just cut off both sides of the connector and hard wire it with some solder, or just twist it up really good and tape it up with electrical tape.
The early versions of the lamp had a very fine screen on the lamp housing, this clogs easy, it may be clogged causing your issue as well. Pull out the lamp and look for the small screen. Clean if necessary. If its very fine and clogged, you may just want to remove the screen completely to prevent further issues.
