The left mouse button does not work on my IBM

The internal left mouse button does not work on my IBM ThinkPad R51. The USB mouse works fine. My son figured out a way to make the right mouse button function as the left, and that worked, so he thinks it's a software problem. How can I fix it? Thanks.

Windows has the ability to swap mouse buttons, mainly for those who mouse left-handed. It looks to the right button for left button action. It seems that the actual left button is not functioning. A work-around is to use the right button as the left as you are now doing, AND, use the solid windows button (the one to the immediate left of the right control key) as the right button. Not as easy, but it works.

IBM ThinkPad T40, when connected to docking station the laptop will randomly stop working with USB connected items like mouse, keyboard, printer all connected to USB ports on docking station.

Try a power adapter with more amperage. When you connect a dock, the 3 amp adapter that comes with IBM laptops will not have enough power for lots of add-ons. You'll need the 4 amp adapter.

I just want to know what the 3 buttons are for above the mouse pad and the two below it are they just left and right click

the 3 buttons above are what we call TrackPoint button. and the other 2 buttons below are what we call touchpad buttons. TrackPoint and touch pad buttons provide functions similar to those of a mouse and its buttons. hope this will really help you. thanks

My IBM thinkpad R51 will not turn at all. There is nothing when you hit the power button. I have over 800$ work of extra's I bought for this laptop. It has a 500gb Processor and the works. It just stopped...

You can get the stuff off your old drive in your broken laptop... Well thats if it isn't faulty, but if OK, you can take the drive out and connect it up via an inexpensive SATA to USB adapter, then you can just use the drive as normal drive. You connect up the drive & plug it into a USB port & it will show up in MY Computer as a drive.

USB ports not working in IBM thinkpad R51 series

have you tried dong an OS re-install with another hard drive? this is one way to verify if the USB port is really bad...you need to isolate the software-caused and hardware-caused problems.

IBM Thinkpad won't work with adapter and won't recharge battery

Well he shorted out the regulator inside that tells the unit the battery needs to be recharged in witch transfers it to AC current, on this unit the rugulator is implemented in the motherboard and that wold not be practical ether to replace unless you find one for parts on www.ebay.com for cheap and do it yourself that would be the only way that would cost you less money- thanks
