2006 xj8 passenger door open light on

Hello. It seems your Jaguar's door jamb switch is malfunctioning/defective. Door jamb switches make/break power to the interior lamps AND the 'information' panel in the instrument cluster. It's possible you got the wrong wires. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

How do I uninstall my garage door sensors. They continue to give me problems, it acts like there is something in front of the sensor and prevents the door from closing.

When you say sensors, are you talking about the photo-eye that checks if obstruction is in path of garage door?

1) You can buy sensors for $20-30. They seem generic

2) The new openers may be set up so by-pass is not an option.
Solution: In that case, you can move sensors above the garage door and put them face to face to see if that helps.

3) The way the sensors work is this. One side produces beam of light. Other side receives light. The receiver keeps a circuit closed at all times when light is received. If no light, then the circuit opens up and an electronic part interprets the lack of signal and turns off opener.

Solution: one side produces light. It does not have a switch. The other side has the switch. You can disconnect (or cut) a wire see which side has the light. The other side has the switch ... cut the 2 wires on the side with a switch, cap them off, and then see if opener works. Next twist the 2 wires together and see if opener works.

4) Fall-back position: Mark your wires and you can put it back the way it was.

The power windows are not working at all. Tried the fuses.

ok,make sure you tried all the windows on all the door switches,,,,what i think you may find is broken wires, sounds like it,,,,,when you open the drviers side door, look in the crack where the body of the car meets the door and you will see a black wire harness, you are going to carefully cut open that harness loom with a sharp razor knife,Be careful not to cut yourself and not to cut into the wires inside the loom,,,once you got it cut open you will need to inspect the wires inside,,they get dry and brittle from all the opening and closing of the door and the wires chaff open and short and some even break apart,,ive seen 6 broken wires in 1 ion door jam,,,,all the wires for all the windos run thru here because of the master switch being in that door...,,if oyu do find broken ones go get the pinkish red **** connector, make sure they are heatshrink connectors so they are weather proof, fix all the wires and heat the connector up to shrink it tight then electrical tape over each connector seperately, then put loom back on and electrical tape the complete loom from door to body,,,,,and all should work...ive never seen a bad windows switch knock out all 4 windows so i doubt its that,,,but good luck, hopefully this helps you

Older maytag dryer: rewiring help

If it is a usual door switch, it is simply OPEN or CLOSED (the switch im talking about ... not the door.) Translation, it doesnt make any difference. When the wires are connected in the switch, the machine thinks the door is closed. When they are apart, the machine thinks the door is open.

Make sense?

(Maybe)

Two wires one switch it is a 'switch leg'

If I read this incorrectly, please tell me. (I answer the belt question all the time ... I usually remind people to be careful of the door switch ... )

Thanks for using FixYa.com

Wash machine won't spin.

If you want you can jump the switch out by taking the wires off the switch and put electrical tape around them together really tight and see if that works if so its your switch thats bad

Power windows and locks do not work at the drivers door switch. Switch is good and door locks work with the remote any suggestions. I have power to the switch.

sounds to me like a bad body control module. it controls locking/unlocking of all doors, up and down of all windows, opening and closing of power sliding doors, etc...

Raynor garage opener-remote only works close up sometimes

check to seee if the little wire that hangs out of the operator is hanging out. This wire is the ant. if this is not the problem replace the 12volt battery you can buy them anywhere. make sure you didn't cut off the ant. wire (I have seen customers cut thios wire thinking its an extra and not needed or place the wire inside the box very little signal that way have to be very close)

Transit doors not locking

james i have had the same problem on a transit an trace the problem in the wiring to the rear right door where the wirin goes through the plastic slider between the door and the vehcle i had to cut out the damaged wiring and run new and solder up make sure the wires you put in are long enough too so you can open the door all the way , failing this think logically which is the door opened and closed the most ,ther might be your prob in the wiring between the door and vehcle

Turn on the microwave, it runs but doesn't heat anything.

It's probably one of the switches that cuts the power to the microwave when you open the door. Mine is GE 700 watts and has 3 of those, and the one in the middle went bad so a week ago I temporarily bypassed the switch (while I get one) by cutting both wires that go to the switch and put electrical tape at the end of each wire. The switch was supposed to be a normally open switch but it had continuity with the door open or closed, and it should only have continuity (be closed) when the door is open.
