I am not sure if it was my keys or what, but I have a scratch on my iPhone screen after removing it from my pocket. Anyone know if I would be able to remove the scratches myself? The screen works fine, but the scratch is annoying. Thanks in advance!
I purchased a refurb Pixel 3a phone that had a DEEP scratch in the Gorilla Glass.
Putting a new tempered glass screen protector did not hide the scratch and actually seemed to make it worse as it shows up like a white line shaped air bubble under the protector.
However, by dipping a toothpick in vegetable oil and using it to fill the scratch with a little oil and then putting on the tempered glass screen protector, the scratch literally DISAPPEARED. When you first put the protector on top of the oil, you will see a visible a border between where the oil is being dispersed across the screen and where it is not, but if you press on it like you would to remove air bubbles and then let it settle for about 20 minutes, the scratch disappears without any indication of the oil underneath.
You may want to experiment with an old glass screen protector to get the hang of it before putting on the final one.
I have not seen this remedy anywhere else on the Internet, but it works! I took inspiration from various DIY solutions that talk about using vegetable oil to make the white edge that sometimes appear around the edge of tempered glass protectors on iPhones disappear. That remedy didn't work so well, but works great for this application.
Its not recondmended its a screen /lens not like regular glass where you can buff out fine scratch with toothpaste the following links show how to remove scuffs or very very fine scratches but on some creens trying to remove a scratch may cause malufunctions
