May be a defective solenoid. there is a solenoid that is (probably) under the top of your washer. There should be 2to4 screws on the baqckside, at the top. UNPLUG the washer, then slide the top back off the machine. There should be 2 solenoids hooked inline with tubes going from the dispenser to the tub.
Undo the wires of the solenoids, AFTER marking the wires so they get back in the right place. Swap the wires. POLARITY matters so BE CAREFUL. plug washer in to wall socket and add some sofetner. If the softener stops, you have bad solenoid. If not you need to check voltages.
Remove the drawer detergent dispenser. Then feel around in the front of the empty drawer tray for any missing detergent caps or chunks of anything. This can cause your issue - and can be an easy fix.
I was just about to call the service teck when I decided I shouldn't be this stupid and try and fix it myself.
I took the tray out and looked in with a flashlight.
Saw nothing.
Cleaned the tray and then checked the drainage hole inside the opening where the tray normally feeds the machine the soap.
I found a inside of the liquid XXXKing laundry cap partially blocking the drain.
Pull disp out. Check to see if its clean. Put into sink and run a sead stream of water into bleach cup till overflows and syhpon tube begins to drain water. Turn of spicket while holding disp steady and level. If the water drains cold water valve is faulty or screen is restriced reducing water preasure. Poor water preasure will prevent proper syhponing. If disp doesn't syphon or drain water out while in sink its either faulty or dirty.
You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub. Pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it. Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening. Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.
Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.
