Every washer I have dealt with have all been direct driven through a transmission. There are several reasons that a washer drum will not rotate. The simplest reason is that the door interlock is not functioning properly.

My washer will wash and rinse the clothes, but won't spin. what is the problem?

Sounds like the Thrust washer problem to me. I believe this to be basically a Maytag single belt washer. Your symtoms sounds to me like the brake package is is not releasing the tub. Their is a cam riser built into the main drive pulley on these washers. The motor runs in one direction for wash and rinse and another direction for spin and pump out. In the spin direction the brake is released and the drum can rotate. With time the main drive pulley wears out. A new pulley and washers comes in a kit to fix the problem. More here

How do i fit the drive belt on a hotpoint wma74 washing machine

Hook the belt over the motor shaft and feed it onto the drum pulley as far as it will go,hold it in place on the pulley with the aid of cable tie clips, then rotate the inner drum anti clock wise by holding the inside of the inner drum. This will draw the belt onto the pulley and the cable ties will snap as the drum rotates.

Washer drum does'nt spin

Remember that there are different types of drums operations. mostly on manual types, there is a timer that goes on and off to rotate the washer drum on both direction i.e., clockwise and counterclockwise. this timer is triggered by cams and mostly manually engaged to start the drum rotating. If it seems that there is water coming in and out, there is no problem about it, but the drive is mostly connected by a belt underneath the drum. and probably it is the v- belt that was dislodge or have been cut-off.

How do i fix on a drive belt to a washing machine?

There is a removeable cover at bottom rear of washer..
Undo this, and you will see the motor and belt.
It will be very tight to put on, but this is normal as it is a stretch belt, that is why there is no adjustment on motor.
Hope this helps you .

Thankyou.

Front loader washer machine not rotating.

Fisrt, see if you can rotate it by hand, BOTH directions. It should have some resistance. If you can spin it and when you stop pushing it will turn a full turn, your drum belt is too loose. If the belt is good and tight, it will spin less than one half rotation, there is probably something blocking one of the wheels that the drum rides on.

What type of drive do I have on my Whirlpool washer model LSB6400LWO . A little confused as to direct drive, belt drive, or transmission?

Your model is a direct drive washer. The output spindle of the drive motor is directly connected to the drum.

Belt drive models use a less powerful motor which is connected to the drum via a drive belt, and the difference in size between the pulley on the drum and the motor acts as a reduction gear to turn the high rpm, low torque motor output into a low rpm, high torque drive to the drum.

Transmission models are a variation of the same idea where a motor is mounted similar to a direct drive model but is indirectly connected to the drum via a reduction gear.

Washer drum not rotating

Hi,

The reason for the washer drum not to rotate is either the belt or the motor. Check the belt. It may be broken or, it may have slipped of the pulley or drive motor. If the belt is fine, replace the motor.

Dryer Drum not rotating

If warm air is still coming from the unit, but the drum is not rotating, it sounds like your drive motor is fine, but your drive belt is broken. Depending on you dryer model, these can be fairly easy to check, or may take a little creativity to get the dryer apart. Knowing your dryer model number would go a long way towards assisting further.
